For a few weeks now LinkedIn has been notifying my connections that I have been at Henderson Loggie for 20 years. Well, today is actually that day having joined the firm on Monday 23 August 2004 as CA trainee. Fortunately, I couldn't find any pictures of me in those early days! I've worked, and still work, with a lot of great people and seen a lot of great change - all of it positive. Thankfully the days of carting holdalls full of lever arch files to client premises are gone (like my back!). The most remarkable change that has happened at Henderson Loggie over the last 20 years is the culture. Going from what many would view as a 'traditional' accountancy firm to one which is much more modern with clear values, effective communication from management, values its employees, has adapted to changes in technology, appreciates the importance of a work-life balance - the importance of which can never be undervalued, and supports opportunities for continuous learning and development. It is the people that drive and create a positive culture in any workplace, and having the right people in the firm over the last 20 years has helped to make Henderson Loggie the firm it is today, and will be in the years ahead. This isn't intended to be a promotional ad for Henderson Loggie, but rather I feel that it is important to highlight some of the reasons why I have stayed with the firm for as long as I have. I would like to think that I have been able to contribute to the development of the culture, as well as share in the growth and success of the firm over the last 20 years. Being valued is one of the keys to employee retention. I am looking forward to the future opportunities for both the firm and the Internal Audit team that I work with. Here’s to many more years of growth, learning, and success.

Completed the Dundee Kiltwalk Wee Wander on Sunday along with this great bunch of kids to raise much needed funds for our Riverside West End 2011 Reds. Didn't do the big walk, not because it would have broken me, but we had a match straight after completing the walk. The kids did brilliantly to manage both in very hot conditions. We won the game 7-2, proving they are a fit bunch. Thanks to all that sponsored the team. 👏🏻
