Baseball is back! ⚾ It's that time of year when hope is in the air and every team still has a chance. I continue to be amazed that the single most popular blog on my website is one I wrote years ago about former Chicago Cubs manager Joe Maddon. Maddon became a beloved figure in the city of Chicago (particularly for winning the World Series) and his frequent quips – dubbed “Maddonisms” – were often quoted on T-shirts and in the media. 👕 What I loved about his Maddonisms was that they were designed for baseball but applicable for business. For example: 🧢 DO SIMPLE BETTER: In baseball, Maddon is talking about always making the routine plays, whether it’s fielding a ground ball, sliding into second, or laying down a bunt. In business, this equates to making every interaction with the customer easier. 🎯 EMBRACE THE TARGET: It’s always better to be in the lead (and be the target) than to be chasing someone else. 👎 TRY NOT TO SUCK: I think this one speaks for itself.
