Steve Ross’ Post

In cherishing the annual tradition and pomp and circumstance of "Opening Day" this week a thought occurred to me: baseball, ultimately, is a game of failure. For a batter who only gets a hit 33% of the time over the course of his career is still considered a success (and likely headed to the Hall of Fame!). When we are no longer held back by the possibility or even the probability of failing, we increase our ability to take risks. We know that the far bigger danger is not taking any risks. After all, trying to stay static in a rapidly changing world is futile, at best. Using baseball as a metaphor, having no fear of failure is one of the most important leadership traits. Play Ball!  #baseball #openingday #leadership #playball
