Here are five steps to prepare for a career in Medical Device Sales. 1️⃣ Position and optimize your LinkedIn profile for Medtech sales. 2️⃣ Research Medtech companies in your area. 3️⃣ Introduce yourself to the companies. (Don't ask for a job. They will know from your profile you want to enter Medtech sales). 4️⃣ Network, engage and show interest. 5️⃣ Request a short meeting to gain an understanding of a product, an indication for its use, the pathology, the methods of selling. Do not do this to try to get a job with the company but to improve your understanding of the medical device sales industry and to add the experience to your LinkedIn profile and resume. The desired outcome of this exercise is not to find a job but to improve your knowledge and understanding, as it demonstrates initiative and diligence; two highly valued attributes. Also, consider the vocational training path as a way to break into medical device sales. Click "View my website" to learn more.

Staying in the comfort zone as a medical sales representative can hinder professional growth and limit career advancement. Here's why: 1. **Stagnation**: Remaining comfortable means sticking to familiar routines and approaches, which can lead to stagnation in skills and knowledge. 2. **Missed Opportunities**: In a dynamic industry like medical sales, new products, technologies, and market trends emerge regularly. Failing to explore beyond the comfort zone means missing out on potential opportunities for growth and advancement. 3. **Competitive Disadvantage**: Competitors who are willing to step out of their comfort zones may outperform those who remain complacent. Being proactive and adaptable gives sales reps a competitive edge in securing new clients and expanding their market reach. 4. **Customer Needs Change**: Healthcare needs are constantly evolving, and sales representatives must adapt to meet those changing needs. By staying comfortable, reps may fail to identify shifts in customer preferences or emerging market demands. 5. **Professional Development**: Continuous learning and skill development are essential in the medical sales field. Stepping out of the comfort zone by attending industry events, seeking out training opportunities, and networking with peers fosters professional development and enhances credibility within the industry. In essence, embracing discomfort, taking calculated risks, and seeking growth opportunities are essential for success and longevity in the competitive field of medical sales.

Reflecting on a Two-Year Milestone in Medical Device Sales: Insights from a Former Personal Trainer to Regional Manager While I was going through the journey I was always documenting it because I wanted to look back to see what I was learning, but also to help others Here is a blog post I wrote about my 2 year anniversary in Medical Device Sales and wanted to share it to hopefully help someone else: Two years into my journey within the medical device sales industry, the adventure from transitioning out of personal training into becoming a Medtronic Full Line Representative, to elevating a low-performing territory into the top 10, and finally, to overseeing the Western US as a Regional Manager for Inovus Medical, has been an exciting and educational time. We help medical device companies reach pre-nurtured hospital and clinic decision makers on performance basis.
As a medical device sales rep at Binnovate Digital, I've had my fair share of challenges navigating the intricate world of healthcare sales. One resource that's been instrumental in shaping my approach is 𝗝𝗲𝗳𝗳 𝗧𝗵𝘂𝗹𝗹'𝘀 '𝗠𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲𝘅 𝗦𝗮𝗹𝗲'. Let me share some insights that might benefit you too: In our industry, sales aren't just about transactions; they're transformative experiences. Each device, each innovation, has the potential to redefine practices, enhance capabilities, and most importantly, improve patient outcomes. Thull's work has been my guide in this transformative journey. At its core, Thull introduces the Diagnostic Business Development process. It's not about pushing a product, but about mutual discovery. The key? Collaborate with clients, understand their unique challenges, and see how a device can be a tailored solution. Imagine a neurology clinic facing diagnostic challenges. The right device, with the right approach, can be a game-changer. But it's not just about selling; it's about understanding, empathizing, and positioning oneself as a collaborator. This approach emphasizes empathy and understanding. It's about shifting from selling a product to solving a problem. And in doing so, it elevates the product's value, making it not just 'One amongst many', but '𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗢𝗻𝗲'. If you're looking to navigate the world of medical device sales or if you're on the lookout for solutions that truly resonate with your needs, 'Mastering the Complex Sale' is a great starting point. Dive in, and if you ever want to chat about its teachings or how Binnovate Digital can assist, I'm here. Happy Learning! 📚"

Entry level medical sales roles are most often not entry level sales roles. An entry level sales role is at a large Fortune 500 company selling B2B. You can find these on google by searching “Selling Power’s Top 50”. Entry level MEDICAL sales roles are most often “Associate Sales Representatives” or TM positions that require 6-12 months of sales experience and is your “entry” to the medical sales world. I notice some people looking for device roles get frustrated on here saying that nobody will give them a shot, not knowing that med device sales isn’t an entry level sales job. Guarantee yourself a med device role by getting entry level sales experience for 6-12 months and becoming a top candidate applying for an ASR position. OR: Take a breath, realize you’re going after a position that requires more experience than you have, and increase your sales and presentation skills, network more, and prepare more than any other candidate going for that ASR position who has sales experience. Stay positive, hungry, and curious! Good luck!
