H2 for transportation is an insane argument that it’s better for the environment than BEVs. Many don’t know that leaked H2 during production, storage and transportation has detrimental effects, as it has high Global Warming Potential (GWP) by increasing the residence time for Methane (CH4) in the atmosphere. CH4 traps more heat in the atmosphere/molecule than carbon dioxide (CO2), making it x80 more harmful than CO2 for 20yr after its release. https://lnkd.in/gYjth4mU

“Carbon Dioxide Removal” (CDR) is what we do to achieve “Negative Emissions” (NE) as the @IPCC_CH’s SPECIAL REPORT: GLOBAL WARMING OF 1.5 ºC explains in the FAQ. => CDR is the process and negative emissions are the result. See: https://lnkd.in/d7fxX7E

Cutting CO₂ emissions is crucial for curbing global warming. But the Earth is complicated and there are lots of interacting systems that make it difficult to predict what will actually happen even if we stop adding any CO₂ to the atmosphere. The debate over methane emissions rarely include how the break-down of methane in the atmosphere is altered. OH radicals play an important role and an increase of the the amount of OH radicals in the atmosphere will lead to that methane is oxidized into carbon dioxide. Water vapor, through reactions with ozone, is one of the most important sources of OH in the atmosphere. This means that the water cycle has indirect efftects on climate, over and above water vapor being a greenhouse gas by itself. I belive it supports that we need to expand our view of global warming and integrate better the effects of LIFE on the climate over and above simple carbon dioxide, methane and nitrous oxide balances. https://lnkd.in/dxxVQm8a

Just a while ago, in a galaxy far far away, someone finally calculated the Global Warming Potential (GWP100) values of a few manufacturing processes and materials!! To this EXPERT whom I have not met yet, may the IPCC be with you, Amen! 🖖 #decarbonization #ghgaccounting #lifecycleassessment

Everyone is talking about global warming and greenhouse gases..... 🌏, however, it is surprising that not so many (at least from my experience) even know the mass of the atmosphere, how it is calculated, how to use it to calculate the weight of 1ppm CO2 in the atmosphere...tell me how you can calculate that 1ppm CO2 in the air contains around 2.13 Gt C. 🤣 🤣 It is important that we not only know that 2-3ppm CO2/year increase in the air but also realize how much C we emitted to the air per capital and from there we have a clear picture what we can do as an individual to be environment friendly. #CO2 #globalwarming #GHGs

🌐 Human Activities: The primary driver of global warming is human activities, especially the burning of fossil fuels like coal, oil, and gas. The release of greenhouse gases, such as carbon dioxide (CO2) and methane (CH4), intensifies the greenhouse effect, trapping heat in the Earth's atmosphere. We must transition to cleaner energy sources for a sustainable future. #ClimateAction #GlobalWarming

#ClimateAction of the day: Tell major newspapers to educate the public about MethaneSat! MethaneSat, a tiny satellite with high resolution capabilities will provide global data on methane leaks, aiding efforts to hold companies accountable and reduce emissions. This is a game changer, as methane is responsible for 30% of global warming & curbing methane leaks from the fossil fuel industry is one of the fastest ways to curb the increasing temperatures. Let’s urge major newspapers to educate the public on the dangers of methane leaks & the importance of MethaneSat! https://lnkd.in/gM9jQVUV #methane #methaneemissions #methanesat #globalwarming

Did you know that although Carbon dioxide (CO2) is the most common GHG, it is not the most powerful in causing global warming? It is estimated that 1 tonne of Hydrofluorocarbons (HFCS) is the equivalent to over 1,800 tonnes of CO2, while 1 tonne of methane (CH4) is estimated to be the equivalent of around 25 tonnes of CO2 in terms of its impact as a greenhouse gas. I thought you should know!

As an alternative to reducing the GWP index price of refrigerant materials which is associated with global warming events, one way is to introduce non-F-gas refrigerants with a very low GWP index value below the GWP index of CO2 gas as a greenhouse gas material.

With the increasing amount of greenhouse gas material in the earth's atmosphere, which is equivalent to CO2 gas. What we know as global warming, it can be compared to the earth being in a giant oven. The importance of carbon trading through carbon capture and carbon storage. #climatechange
