Cutting-edge technology is now being brought into football, and it's not just about improving the game. It's about inclusion. For years, people with hearing impairments have been unable to fully experience the roar of the crowd during a football match. But now, technology is changing that. With this innovative solution, their disability won't limit them when they watch their team play.
This same principle can be applied to care homes. Technology is all about enhancing people's lives and promoting inclusion. But most importantly, it's about giving control back to the individual. Unfortunately, many individuals in care homes have had control taken away from them through no fault of their own. But with the right technology, we can help them regain that control and live their lives to the full.

Unlike every other disability, there is currently no Government funding or support for elite deaf athletes training for and attending the Deaflympics and other European and World deaf sport competitions. UK Deaf Sport is campaigning for fairness and parity for elite deaf athletes with their Olympic and Paralympic counterparts.
The core mission for UK Deaf Sport is to widen opportunities for more deaf people to participate in sport throughout their lives and for more deaf athletes to perform on the world stage. There is a common misconception that deaf athletes compete in the Paralympics, but they actually can’t unless they have another Paralympic impairment that entitles them to do so. Instead, deaf athletes compete in the Deaflympics, an event that is 100 years old next year and precedes the Paralympics. The Deaflympics is an entirely separate event recognised by the International Olympic Committee as part of the Olympic family alongside the Olympics, Paralympics, and Special Olympics.

Everyone was feeling the energy at St. James' Park this weekend, let's talk about the power of purpose-driven partnerships. 👏⚽
When Newcastle United Football Club donned their football shirts emblazoned with the RNID logo, it was more than just a game - it was the amplification of support and inclusivity. This kind of partnership doesn't just champion a noble cause; it unites communities and breaks down barriers.
This weekend saw pioneering technology and commitment to inclusion, revolutionise experience of the deaf and hearing loss community. The #UnsilenceTheCrowd initiative, manifests the remarkable influence sports can have beyond the pitch. But this isn't just about football. It's a rallying call for organisations to align with partners who share a core purpose.
When we come together, we can redefine 'accessibility' and celebrate the #SpectacularEveryday, for everyone.
I invite you to dive deeper into how NUFC and Sela | صلة are making live matches an incredible experience for deaf fans and mascots.
We did the shirt proud winning 4-0, but more than that, this purpose-driven, uplifting activation brought a tear to this Geordies eye! 🙌

Today, as we observe the 11th International Day of Sports for Peace and Development, we recognize the transformative power of sports in fostering a peaceful and inclusive society. On this significant day, I am excited to share with you an innovative technology that is revolutionizing the way deaf athletes engage with sports.
Ekhosport Technology is a groundbreaking invention, inspired by the founder's personal journey, designed to overcome communication barriers between deaf athletes and their coaches. This technology has been successfully implemented in various European nations and was notably utilized by Cameroon's deaf team during the Deaf World Cup in Malaysia.
The introduction of Ekhosport Technology has been a game-changer, providing deaf athletes with the means to receive real-time, accessible communication from their trainers. This not only enhances their training experience but also empowers them to perform at their best, fostering a sense of belonging and equality within the sports community. The benefits extend beyond the field, as it promotes social inclusion and underscores the value of diversity in sports.
As we celebrate the positive impact of sports, let's embrace technologies like Ekhosport that ensure every athlete, regardless of hearing ability, can share in the joy and camaraderie that sports bring.

🤔 DID YOU KNOW? USA Deaf Sports Federation (USADSF) serves as the national governing body of deaf sport organizations in the United States.
'Hearing loss creates disadvantages that are not as obvious as others, which means deaf athletes are prone to experiencing difficulties because their needs are easily overlooked or forgotten. Deaf athletes benefit from adaptations that are specific to their needs, such as the use of a light flashing system instead of starting guns or buzzers, and having officials employ hand signals and flags instead of whistles. Full access to communication is also a critical factor in the success of any athlete.'
They make it possible for folks like Alfredo and Andrew, to enjoy the sports they LOVE. Get it, Love?... Tennis pun.

🔗 Innovative Tech in Football: AT&T 5G football Helmet for Deaf Athletes*🔗
Athletes at Gallaudet University renowned for championing the deaf and hard of hearing community, are experiencing a game-changing technological advancement on the football field, thanks to 5G 🏈
The 5G-connected helmet is a groundbreaking initiative designed to seamlessly link players and coaches in real-time during a game. This advanced helmet employs an AR lens which allows the quarterback to visualize plays sent via 5G by the coach using a tablet. Gone are the days when deaf athletes needed to divert their attention to the sidelines for directives; now, they can maintain their concentration solely on the game. 🎮🖥️
The initiative's impact is beautifully captured in a video which offers insights into the team's training sessions and their reactions to this cutting-edge tech.

Great to see a pro-male/dad advert from Cetaphil for the Superbowl. #GameTimeGlow
This is a brilliant example of an organisation using this medium to be positive about the role of men in our society which will resonate with the reality of the vast majority of people and families.
The more we see pro-male adverts, the more positive they and boys/young men will be about themselves and others.
The last few weeks there has been much comment about why a minority of young men (if you read the narrative you'd think it was all) are influenced by Tate etc and are not as supportive to women as they should be. Albeit, you never hear much about women needing to be as supportive to men - but again, that's counter narrative and the DEI conversation is far too one-dimensional at the moment. We all need to be allies to each other.
If you keep telling boys, young men and men they are a problem and fail to deal with the challenges they face, why do you think a small minority will play out that role.
The more we see positive portrayals like this, the better. There have been many adverts in the last five years which hit this right note. Let's hope this is the first of many more in 2024.
