A Word from Safety Steve: Welcome to June… the month where we all start to think about summertime activities. June is also National Safety Month – the annual observance to help keep each other safe from the workplace to anyplace. Since 1996, National Safety Month has provided a month’s worth of free safety resources to highlight leading causes of preventable injury and death. The National Safety Council has weekly updates that they share for the month of June. Starting with the first week, June 1-8 is about safety engagement. Week two, June 9-15 is Roadway Safety, Week three, June 16-22 is Risk Reduction, and week 4, June 23-30 is Slips, Trips and Falls. For more information about these here is the link: https://lnkd.in/eTb38wtz As for me, I want to go with something more fun than just work, so here are some other things to remember. 1. Use Sunscreen, even on cloudy days working outside you can get sunburn. 2. Take a first aid kit with you. Never know when you might need a band aid or burn cream. 3. Wear light colored clothing. Light colored clothing will help reflect the sunlight. 4. Wear lightweight clothing and add layers if your cold, so you can take something off when it gets hotter. 5. If your riding….wear a helmet. Protect your head from injuries. 6. During the hottest part of the day, take a break and find some shade to keep cool. 7. Wear sunglasses and protect your eyes. 8. Use Insect repellent to ward of the bugs. Do a little research as some are better than others. 9. Know the weather forecast. 10. Take lots of breaks if doing activities in the heat and remember to HYDRATE!

CEO of HeatTrak: Maker of the Snow Melting Mat. Avoid slip & falls, lawsuits & liability at your facility this winter!
Did you know June is National Safety Month? Started by the National Safety Council, it's a time dedicated to raising awareness about #safety and highlighting ways to prevent injuries at home, work, and in our communities. So obviously, I'm thinking about winter safety during the heat of summer. I know, I know—talking about snow and ice in June is like planning a ski trip at the beach, but hear me out! Planning ahead for winter can be incredibly rewarding. Here’s why ⬇️ 1. Preparing your walkways, stairs, ramps, and other areas with proper safety measures can prevent accidents and injuries, saving you from costly medical bills and potential lawsuits. Ensuring your team is educated about winter safety can lead to fewer workplace accidents, which means less downtime and more #productivity. 2. Being proactive about #wintersafety shows your commitment to the well-being of your family, employees, and community. Winter conditions create hazards, especially for those with disabilities, mobility issues, or older adults. Slip and fall accidents can lead to serious injuries and hefty costs. It's not just about ditching the shovel—it's about protecting people, especially the most vulnerable. I hope you all have a great National Safety Month and take the time to reflect on how you can improve your safety protocols not just in winter, but every season. #NationalSafetyMonth #HeatTrakPRO

June is National Safety Month! 🦺 Prioritize safety at home, work, and everywhere in between to keep our communities healthy and secure. National Safety Month aims to reduce the leading causes of injury and death at work, on the road, and in our homes and communities. The National Safety Council (NSC) spearheads this observance, providing resources and guidelines to help prevent accidents and injuries. Here are some key focus areas: Workplace Safety: - Training and Awareness: Implementing safety training programs to educate employees about potential hazards. - Ergonomics: Ensuring workstations are ergonomically designed to prevent strain and injury. - Protective Equipment: Promoting the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) like helmets, gloves, and safety goggles. Home Safety: - Fall Prevention: Using non-slip mats, installing handrails, and ensuring adequate lighting to prevent falls, especially for the elderly. - Fire Safety: Installing smoke detectors, having fire extinguishers on hand, and practicing evacuation plans. - Childproofing: Keeping hazardous materials out of reach and securing furniture to prevent tipping. Road Safety: - Defensive Driving: Encouraging drivers to stay alert, avoid distractions, and adhere to speed limits. - Seat Belt Use: Promoting the consistent use of seat belts for all passengers. - Alcohol and Drug Awareness: Highlighting the dangers of driving under the influence and promoting sober driving. Throughout June, organizations and individuals are encouraged to share safety tips, conduct training sessions, and promote awareness activities to help create safer environments for everyone. Let's work together to make safety a priority in every aspect of our lives! For more information and resources, visit the National Safety Council's website at www.nsc.org. #nationalsafetymonth

Happy National Safety Month! At Orwak, workplace safety is paramount. Whether at our main facility in Morrisville, NC, or at our various client warehouses and sites, it’s important to maintain and promote a safe and healthy environment for everyone involved. When operating any type of machinery, either balers or compactors, you must take all necessary safety precautions, which includes: • Wearing proper protective equipment (hard hats, gloves, goggles, earmuffs) • Reading all warning labels before using machinery • Loading materials correctly (i.e., not exceeding maximum weight and size) • Regularly scheduled maintenance • Being aware of malfunctions, leaks, etc. (and taking your machine out of service until repaired) https://lnkd.in/e4VBVFN #nationalsafetymonth #workplacesafety #warehousesafety #balersafety #compactorsafety
