The CFMEU WA sends our heartfelt condolences to the family and workmates of the worker who tragically lost his life after falling through a rusted tin roof in Malaga yesterday afternoon. This is the second workplace fatality this month. Having campaigned specifically for awareness around the risks of working at heights and fall prevention in October, we have now witnessed the tragedy of another worker losing his life under those very circumstances. Why is no body listening? The message just isn’t getting through. The numbers keep going up. But these workers are more than just numbers - they are husbands, they are fathers, they are friends and workmates who are not coming home to dinner. We need to impose and uphold rigorous standards around safety on site and in the workplace. There is no margin for error in this industry, and there is nothing more important than the safety and wellbeing of those working at the coalface. Here we are with another fatality that was entirely preventable and should never have happened. This is a terrible waste of life, and there are no excuses. There is nothing more important than everyone going home safely at the end of the day.

It started so well and ended so badly…😫 Ok - this is not a pity post. But it is a post to remind you of the fragility of life. What started well? 😊 The weekend. I had some great news late Friday and felt happy heading into the weekend. How it went…. 🐎🏃♀️🤩 The weekend was great. I got some decent running in and even headed out on a solo off road run (which I’m often nervous about doing) and, despite an encounter with 2 overly friendly horses and a just in time run over a train track, it went well. How it ended….Sunday night watching Kings of Kings at Hyde Park. Train home, just as I’d got on the train I got a call ‘I think I’ve had a stroke, can’t get up, called ambulance but not sure I can let them in’. My world discombobulated. Cue ringing round neighbours to wake someone to help. Eventually got through. Then they couldn’t work the key. I’m trying to talk them through the locks, everyone staring at me on the train. I’m panicking now. They get into the house eventually. Another neighbour picks me up from the station, I arrive home to the ambulance I jump in it blue lighted to hospital. Things look scary. But in safe hands TF. I wait and I wait …. Yup suspected stroke. ‘Only’a mini one. I leave hospital about 3am in a cab. And now? Hubby still in hospital much improved and can talk well but with residual numbness. They are carrying out more tests as potentially a few things going on and they want to be sure everything is checked. Good. Yesterday I was a zombie and probably in shock. Today I’m much better. I’m glad I got most of my big projects completed in the last week, as I’ve got the flexibility to do hospital visits. And, obviously, input to the medical opinions with my vast knowledge 🙄 So, the point of the post? Life is fragile. It can turn very quickly. Live it. Appreciate it. Respect it. We get knocked down but we get up again. #life #hr #hrconsultant #hrconsultancy #businessowners #smallbusinesssupport #resilience
