Following our inaugural #ECNCon23 conference last year, Madison Hicks, Jemima Jones and I have been on a bit of a roadshow… We’ve taken to senior leaders across UK Research and Innovation to demonstrate the impact staff networks like ours can bring, not only to early career colleagues but the organisation as a whole. When you work somewhere that’s comprised of a central hub and 9 distinct research councils, complete with their individual centres and institutes around the country, it can sometimes be hard to find opportunities to connect with colleagues. These peer-to-peer connections are invaluable however, because in my experience, that’s often where innovation lies. The #UKRIEarlyCareerNetwork (ECN) is uniquely positioned to be the missing link, connecting, and upskilling our next generation of future leaders, researchers and enabling colleagues.  We do this while simultaneously having an impact on the whole organisation. Events like our conference generate a new wave of interconnected colleagues equipped with skills to drive forward research and innovation in the UK and bring about positive change within teams at all levels. Perhaps the clearest sign we’re on the right track is our ever-increasing membership, now at 500 colleagues. Excitingly, this makes our network over 5% of the organisation’s total headcount, and larger than 5 of its constituent parts. #leadership #LifeAtUKRI #personaldevelopment 📸 Alt Text: Image in original post shows infographic in three parts. 🎤 Just wrapped up a fantastic panel discussion! 🌟Honored to have been part of the "ELEVATE Black Leaders in Industry (BLII)" panel discussion, expertly moderated by Rochelle Watson and Shakera Green. 🌟ELEVATE, an initiative by Kingston University Careers and Employability Services, aims to empower students and graduates in their career journeys. This event brought together a panel of professionals, including myself, representing diverse domains within the dynamic life sciences sector. We gathered to share insights, inspire, and assist students as they embark on their exciting life sciences careers. ✅Our discussion covered a range of crucial topics, from our motivations for working in this dynamic industry to the positive changes we've witnessed regarding equality, inclusion, and diversity. We delved into our professional development journeys, discussed the challenges we've overcome, and highlighted the strong sense of community we've built within the life sciences field. ✅We firmly believe that a career is more than just a degree or work experience. It's about embracing lifelong learning and engagement from day one. That's why we took the time to address students' questions and share our insights on how they can build their social networks within the sector. ✅As we concluded, each panelist offered three invaluable tips for students and early graduates, providing actionable guidance for a successful start in the life sciences field. The passion for helping the next generation of professionals succeed is truly rewarding, and I'm grateful for the opportunity to contribute. 🙏🏾 I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to the ELEVATE team for providing us with this opportunity. 🌐 Let's continue working together to shape the future of life sciences and empower emerging leaders. Rise is partnering Kayode Alabi Leadership and Career Initiative - KLCI to recruit and find the next Rise Global Winners. Rise is a program that finds promising young people and provides opportunity as they work to serve others throughout their lifetime. The program seeks young people ages 15 to 17 and encourages a lifetime of service and learning by providing support that may include need-based scholarships, mentorship, networking, access to career development opportunities, and the potential for additional funding as Rise Global Winners work toward solving humanity’s most pressing problems. Unlike many traditional applications, Rise uses videos, projects, and group interviews so applicants have multiple opportunities to showcase their potential. "Find your #future in the digital economy" - Martin, Rafael and I went last week to HHL Leipzig Graduate School of Management to meet students who were attracted by this slogan! One area of our TTE Strategy expertise is #digital transformation and value from data. Therefore, we brought a real project example to provide insights into how we work. Our core message remains the same: Creating results together! Especially with digital challenges, it’s essential not only to develop solutions but also to excite people about them. Even the best tool is worthless if it is not used. 🌐 A big thanks to the students and HHL Career and Alumni Relations for great interactions - we really much enjoyed the Digital Career night!
