Ganapati Temples in Pune: A Timeless Connect between Tradition & Architecture Pune's Ganapati temples are timeless examples of Wada style, representing the cultural grandeur of the Maratha Empire combined with spiritual sanctity. From every delicately carved wooden entrance door to the decorative arches, spacious courtyards, and pillared verandahs, each element reflects a heritage that touches on craftsmanship and community spirit. Today, in this age of embracing sustainable design and architectural innovation, there is much to learn from these Wada-style temples. First of all, the Wada building's usage of local materials, like wood and stone, harmonizes well with modern sustainability practices. It notably reminds us of the need to build in harmony with nature. Temples like the 𝐃𝐚𝐠𝐝𝐮𝐬𝐡𝐞𝐭𝐡 𝐇𝐚𝐥𝐰𝐚𝐢 𝐆𝐚𝐧𝐩𝐚𝐭𝐢 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐂𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐢 𝐆𝐚𝐧𝐩𝐚𝐭𝐢 not only protect this rich architectural heritage of Pune but also inspire modern design to become traditional in serving today's needs. Ganesh Chaturthi and the festivities, let's reflect a little on how these wonders connect us with our cultural roots for community inspiration and modern-day creativity. What does traditional design inspire you within your work today? #GaneshChaturthi #WadaArchitecture #SustainableDesign #PuneHeritage #CulturalLegacy #TraditionalCraftsmanship #ArchitecturalInspiration

Godrej Elements | Hinjewadi, Pune At Elements, each deck is hung between vertical accented blade like columns and the composition when repeated across the building height creates a pleasing trellis like pattern. The landscape layout breaks away from the linearity of the masterplan and creates a diamond or a diagonal shape for the walkways. The colours of the building are intentionally neutral to retain the open spaces and central garden as the visual focus. The clubhouse is the standalone jewel in the landscaped garden with a warmer tone and expression of materiality. The building design and structural concept is carefully laid out to enable efficient parking layouts in the podium. This raised podium creates a raised and more breezy & private green at an elevated level. While the architectural layouts are fairly simple with 4 units per level for each building, the building elevations strive to bring in some complexity to the simple massing by staggering the double height decks of the units. Located at Hinjewade this is next to Pune city's premier workspace hub. Conceived by the client as an amenity rich development for 1300 families its built in two phases - called 24 & Elements respectively. Each Phase is independent in terms of landscape amenities, clubhouse and parking spaces. Client | Godrej Properties Limited Architecture | Kapadia Associates Structure & MEP | Ramboll India Pvt. Ltd. DP Features | Ahmedabad The house has two different blocks, for father and son, graciously elevating and linking them with entertainment areas at the upper level. This link between the two blocks is not just physical but also symbolic. It signifies the bridge /link between generations, ideologies and experiences. Hence it is called as “The Link House”. The journey begins with a dynamic bridge flowing over water bodies and greens. As one ascends anticipation builds creating an aura of mystery and delight. Each step taken is a step into unexpected, setting the tone for extraordinary experiences and views that lie beyond. I was drawn to Architectural Digest's announcement of this year’s 100 most influential architects, and as I browsed through the projects of these incredible talents, a few common threads really stood out to me. One of the most exciting trends is the way these designers are blending tradition with modernity. Whether it’s infusing colonial influences with contemporary design in Chennai or celebrating the Ladakhi way of building while using cutting-edge techniques, there’s a beautiful balance between honoring the past and embracing the future. Another thing that grabbed my attention was how eco-conscious so many of these projects are. Sustainability isn't just a buzzword here—these architects are making it the foundation of their work. They’re using local materials like mud, stone, and wood, designing homes that stay warm or cool naturally, and integrating things like solar panels and eco-friendly toilets. It’s clear that these designers are thinking about how to live lightly on the planet without compromising on style or comfort. I also noticed a strong push towards creating homes that seamlessly blend indoor and outdoor spaces. It’s almost like the walls are disappearing, making nature an integral part of everyday life. Homes are being designed with courtyards, expansive decks, and massive windows that bring the outdoors in. The connection with nature is being prioritized in a way that feels refreshing and calming. What really inspired me, though, is how these architects are responding to the unique challenges of local climates and geography. Whether it’s a home built to withstand the harsh winters of Ladakh or one that’s designed to manage floods in Ahmedabad, each project feels deeply rooted in its environment. And finally, I love how so many of these designs put people at the heart of the project. Homes are being created not just for individuals but for families and communities, with spaces that encourage connection and togetherness. There’s something really human about these designs, something that goes beyond aesthetics to focus on how we live, gather, and interact with one another. It’s clear that the next generation of architects and designers in India is pushing boundaries in the most thoughtful and meaningful ways. #ArchitecturalDigest #OdysseyOfElegance #TheLuxuryEdit #InfluentialArchitects #SustainableDesign #ArchitectureAndNature

FARMHOUSE 1.0 An opportunity came around to design a Farmhouse with all the Modern amenities and luxury. The brief being that it should look like Farmhouse outside and feel like Goa inside... which made us question "what do people think as the aesthetics of a Farmhouse?" Researching on that we saw boxes with roof as a hat sitting over a piece of land with beautiful vegetation and waterbody around. We felt maybe people are right in their interpretation of taking reference from actual farm huts and village homes with the thatch roof and modest feel. But while taking design decisions we felt a strong urge to use organic flow of lines to compliment the organic aesthetics of nature itself. We felt using sharp angles is like us superimposing our ego over nature. This lead us to create this form which is like a shell when you see it from outside it might appear to be closed a secluded but when you enter inside it surprises you with it's connectivity with the surroundings ... Even though we realize after we made it that It doesn't appear like any other Farmhouse but again back to the questions "what is a Farmhouse?" Is it the aesthetics? Or is it the experience that the built environment creates for an individual ? The question is like a ENIGMA and We are still thinking about that answer... and trying to sketch our way through it ! -ENIGMA design studio #ENIGMA #enigma.ds #enigmadesignstudio #architecture #farmhouse #ahmedabad #india #indianarchitects #indianarchitecture

TriDA Design: Private Residence at FC Road, Pune Principal Architect : Sushant Warape Associate: Kanchi C. This private residence at FC Road, Pune, has certain typical design floors imparting it an apartment like appearance. To overcome this visual monotony, the facade design emphasizes a unified, cohesive look that embodies the essence of a single home. The client’s brief focused on creating open, outward-looking spaces with naturally lit and well-ventilated interiors, offering captivating views of the surrounding greenery. The southern-facing front facade, which receives intense sunlight, required a carefully planned design to minimize harsh glare. In response to these requirements, the design incorporates a dynamic facade featuring intricately curated planter beds. This innovative approach not only addresses the climatic challenges but also aligns perfectly with the client’s vision, blending functionality with aesthetic appeal. A Monolithic RCC Structural design system will bring this beautifully envisioned space to life. A visual of the interior courtyard of Chamiers 59, showing the Terracotta Jali blocks from up close. Design by The Architecture Story. Visual by WyrdTree. The building is a condensed hybrid including a public gallery open to the public at the ground level. Other floors include capsule retail shops, co-working spaces, yoga & meditation studios, naturopathy & crystals shops etc. The top floor includes a pop-up venue with an events viewing deck. "Positioned at the intersection of commercial and residential areas in R. A. Puram, Chennai, the project Chamiers 59 embraces the dichotomy of its context. As the neighborhood transitions from its low-rise roots to a denser, vertical future, catalyzed by new planning regulations, the design serves as a response to this transformative period. The project aims to capture the dichotomy of the context and the building that brings together the dynamism of a mixed-use building with the openness and communal spirit of a traditional courtyard."
