Just finished listening to a truly remarkable Data Council talk by Nico Acosta, CEO and co-founder of Propel. I'm still processing everything he said (I was furiously typing notes the whole time), but a few highlights: 1. The best customer-facing analytics are those *customers are willing to pay for*. Pick what reporting to offer based on its ROI (which ties to the ROI the customer gets from it). 2. All analytics delivery is a tradeoff between cost-effectiveness, performance, and flexibility. You can't get all three at once. So you have to make decisions up front to navigate that tradeoff. 3. When building an analytics capability for a product, here's a good default order: Real-time SQL connector, White-label reporting portal, Analytics API, Embedding dashboards, Custom-built in-product dashboards So much good information.
