Values are more than a set of guidelines; they help inform decisions and actions throughout an organization. At the PGA of America, I'm proud of the shared #values that we've created together. Here's what we aim to put first while serving our PGA Members and growing the game: 1. Have Each Other's Backs 2. Start With Clarity 3. Practice Gratitude 4. Last week, I had the pleasure of leading the incredible team of dedicated professionals and hilarious human beings which make up MENA Rights Group through what I can only describe as a transformative team retreat. I say transformative as much for me as for them. Seeing their courage in sharing and connecting, diving deep into their challenges and dreams, focusing as seriously on their mental health and team-work as they do on the crucial documentation and human rights work they do... It was inspirational, deeply gratifying, and strengthened me in my certainty that what the approach of combining "inner work" (team-collaboration, boundary setting, self-leadership, conflict and tension work, communication, etc) with the "outer work" (strategy, structuring, roles and responsibilities, impact measurement, etc) we have at Purpose+Motion is a key ingredient to building sustainable, regenerative organisations which have massive impacts on the global issues we are facing. #ProudCoach #Transformation #Retreats
Last week, we spent a couple of days in the south of France, during which we got to connect as a team and strategize for the future. After 5+ years of existence, it was our first-ever retreat. It's easy to get swamped in our busy day-to-day, but it's also essential to give ourselves some time to step back and reflect. Led by our coach Michael Romig, we got to know each other, strengthened our team's trust, well-being and performance, learned about self-leadership and functioning autonomously. We also want to thank Château l'Escarelle for hosting us in such a serene environment!

Today met one person who just came back from Shirdi Pilgrim. One week of walking, 6 hrs per day walk covering 200 plus km. He has been doing it for the last 18 years. I asked him what are the key takeaways from this walk. 1) Never give up whatever the physical condition. 2) With a group of people with you on the journey with hardly anyone knowing each other, anyone who is behind is not left off, he is carried throughout to the next destination. 3) Break away from yourself; created by self and other's perception, just remaining as one of the travelers, a sole identity. Understanding what he said, could we derive similar parallels in the organization - As a team, we should take on all the physical and mental constraints and overcome them, not leave our team members, carry them, and lastly, create our identity as a team and get the things done together till the journey lasts......

⭐ March’s Olly Olly All Stars ⭐ "A huge congratulations to Shannon K. and Julian V. both. You truly embody Olly Olly’s values every day! What do their managers say about them? “Shannon is always smiling. She has a great attitude and comes in every day fired up to work. She is always willing to help others out. She is one of the hardest workers in the office, often staying up late calling Hawaii and Alaska at night. Shannon is one of the most curious people in the office. If she runs into a new or weird situation, she will look toward more experienced rep or manager. She is skilled herself, but she is always curious how other people would handle things so she can constantly grow. Shannon is known for showing up for her teammates, whether it is help with a demo, or hanging out on a Saturday afternoon, you can count on Shannon.” “Julian consistently embodies our company values and excels in his role, but he's recently gone above and beyond for our entire team. He exemplifies initiative by taking ownership of improving processes. He identified a bottleneck in our new build writing efficiency and, without prompting, dedicated the past three months to developing a new system. Julian's dedication extends beyond just his own work. He readily helps his colleagues, ensuring a positive and supportive team environment. This willingness to share his knowledge and expertise contributes significantly to the overall success of the department.” #leadwithhumilityandcuriosity #showupforoneanother #teamwork

Let's say your team has been working on a special project. You had hard deadlines, and the effort put extraordinary demands on certain team members. But they did it, and you got through it for a successful outcome. So now what? Do you just move on to the next project, or do you take the opportunity to spotlight team members who stand out? I would say the latter! We can incorporate short segments for recognition into meetings where we spotlight and appreciate people by highlighting their hard work and dedication in general but also calling out specific instances of going above and beyond. It doesn't have to be fancy, but it should be meaningful. Consider these benefits: ➡️ This type of recognition will make your team feel valued and appreciated, and it may very well motivate them to work even harder. ➡️ It will also boost your team's confidence and job satisfaction. ➡️ You will reinforce the cultural values of accountability, rewarding work and fun. If you're like me, you want to make sure your team feels seen, valued, and appreciated but your mind is already racing to the next thing. So, next time you're finishing up a major project, consider taking a few moments to recognize the people who really stood out and the overall team accomplishment. You'll likely find that taking time to celebrate is just as important (and healthy) for you as much as it is for your team. 😉
