Using Inclusive Design to Empower Consumer Brands to Reach Diverse Audiences | Founder at Inclus | Inclusive Design Expert
Inclusive Design benefits everybody 🌍 A mate of mine sent me this clip yesterday from the Modern Wisdom Podcast where Chris Williamson is interviewing the marketing genius that is Rory Sutherland. Rory hits the nail on the head when it comes to Inclusive Design 💜 So many of the products and experiences that we create that may initially have intentions to benefit for example members of the disability community can in fact be beneficial for everybody. Let me know in the comments below your thoughts on the clip and what do you use everyday that is potentially inclusively designed? ✍️ #InclusiveDesign

In this week’s podcast episode, Chief Victory Officer, Eric Guy is joined by Traci Hughes, Manager of Youth Services of Beaver County Rehabilitation Center (BCRC). They discuss how businesses can support students to reach their highest potential. Takeaways: ➡️ Those seeking support often find profound learning opportunities in offering support to others. ➡️ There are many ways to help right where we live if we just pay attention. ➡️ See abilities, not disabilities; Instead of focusing on what someone can’t do, try to focus on what they can do. ➡️ Businesses can foster inclusivity and diversity by crafting tailored job roles that accommodate the skills and talents of individuals with disabilities. ➡️ Recognizing any kind of success, big or small, could be enough to keep someone going each day. Quotes: ➡️ “Make sure no child graduates to their couch.” Check out this week’s episode at the link below: https://ow.ly/9KTK50QFJih #YouthServices #Inclusivity #Diversity #DisabilitySupport #BusinessSupport #SuccessMindset #InclusiveJobRoles #centerforvictory #beavercountry #SupportingStudents #personalgrowth

Asking powerful questions to establish an effective path to belonging 🧠 Neurodiversity • Accessibility • Career Clarity • Coaching & Consulting • Writing, Speaking & Facilitation
“The things you miss is because your lived experience doesn’t allow you to necessarily see them.” I lead EDI work and I don’t have all the answers. Neither do you, or does anyone else - and please don’t feel like you’re supposed to! Bring in the people who have lived experiences and those will be impacted by your decisions. Better yet, collaborate with them in the process. If you’re working in EDI or are a leader and you’re hesitant or worried about the vulnerability required to have those conversations, consider asking yourself: ▶️What will happen if I don’t involve folks? ▶️What will happen if I do? I’m so passionate about employee engagement and I will bore you to death if you have time to spare. Progress will not come if we don’t show up with vulnerability and courage to bring folks into these conversations. Thank you, Vernā, as always. 💫 #edi #employeeengagement #vulnerability #diversity

New #modernmommydocpodcast episode! 🎙 In this episode, I talk about the foundational piece that we must develop BEFORE we start implementing strategies for equity at home and in the workplace: self-worth. We must decide that we are worth fighting for and that we are valuable before we take on the giant systemic issue of inequity. Without it, we’ll quickly lose steam in our equity-building efforts and settle into societal norms. Episode Takeaways: #1 We have to be aware of the conditioning that women in America have been getting since we were little, to not be too loud or aggressive and to be a “good little girl.” When we are aware of those inequities, we can start to do the hard work of pushing past the fear that we won’t be liked or that we need to stay quiet in order to see real change happen. #2 Really dig into your self-boundary. There are all types of boundaries, such as boundaries around your time, money, or physical space. We often forget about the most important one, your self-boundary. If you have a poor self-boundary, that means you’re willing to abandon your own needs for the sake of the team or for the sake of someone else, whose needs you’re putting above your own. #3 Treat yourself with #self-compassion, which is the idea that you deserve to treat yourself the same way you would your best friend–with compassion and the benefit of the doubt. When you do this, you’re giving yourself grace for when you’re having a hard time, because you know you have a lot on your plate, you were overwhelmed, or because you were over-functioning. This allows you to set stronger self-boundaries and not allow people to treat you poorly, because you feel so strongly about what you’re worth and what you need. #4 Patience, practice and accountability. It’s taken us centuries to get to this point where we’re even aware of the inequities. It’s going to take generations until we get to where we want. #mentalload #workingmom #workingmomlife Listen to the whole episode below:

📢 In this latest episode of This Is The North podcast, I get to chat with Jo Tanner—a powerhouse in political strategy, a legend and a true advocate for change. Jo’s career has taken her from the frontline of political campaigns, including her work with Boris Johnson during his 2008 Mayoral run, to becoming a respected voice on the broader political landscape. What struck me most about our conversation was how Jo’s deep understanding of political strategy is matched by her unwavering commitment to values like mental health advocacy, elevating women’s voices, and grassroots football and education. Jo’s behind-the-scenes stories of navigating high-stakes campaigns, while staying true to her principles, offer a fascinating look at the complexities of modern politics. Together, we explored the delicate balance between professional duties and personal integrity, the power of representation, and how long-term thinking can drive real, systemic change. This conversation left me thinking about how we, as a community, can play a role in shaping a more inclusive and equitable society. I hope it does the same for you. 🎧 I encourage you to listen to the full episode—find the link in the comments. 👇 #Podcast #ThisIsTheNorth #JoTanner #PoliticalStrategy #MentalHealthAdvocacy #WomenInLeadership #GrassrootsChange #InclusiveSociety #ShapingTheFuture

Lessons that hit home for me in collaborating on this new Op-Ed published in Undark this morning: 1. Globally, public health will become more vulnerable until institutions do the work to seek out local perspectives. 2. Public health interventions are growing more holistic and complex. To be effective, those interventions have to be informed by an intimate knowledge of local conditions. 3. Global health needs more platforms for communicating that are easier for local communities to participate in. Journals and conferences and technical meetings are essential but we need to recognize how hard it is for them to showcase local insights. Garry Aslanyan and his team at the Global Health Matters podcast are part of this solution by elevating emerging voices and perspectives. 4. The article argues for an evolution in the role of technical experts that is provocative and worth discussing. Would love to know people's thoughts. #radicallistening #globalhealth #publichealth #communityengagement #podcast
