🗣 Trivia Tuesday does not always need to be a multiple-choice quiz. Here’s a great alternative from the Miami Dolphins and Hard Rock Stadium and Verizon where they’re asking fans to guess the player. Hints are provided as well as a question sticker to submit answers. What I love about this execution is that when the Dolphins reveal the answer, they also show a few fans’ correct answers. Imagine seeing your answer on your favorite team’s Instagram Stories?! It’s a great way to keep your fans engaged. I also like this format as a solution for teams that run a sponsored version of Trivia Tuesday but don’t want to take up too much real estate on IG Stories when a lot of other content is running. For that reason, I typically recommend a five-question quiz that only runs on non-gameday Tuesdays (which makes sense for high-frequency sports like baseball, basketball, and hockey). This, however, could work on gamedays for partners that want a consistent, weekly presence given you only need two frames. #sportsbusiness #sportsmarketing #sponsorship

Basketball is the 𝘮𝘰𝘴𝘵 𝘱𝘰𝘱𝘶𝘭𝘢𝘳 𝘵𝘦𝘢𝘮 𝘴𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘵 in the US with over 26 million people playing every year and one of the most popular sports in the world with over a billion global fans. The NBA is the torch bearer of this massively popular sport since the last 8 decades or so. Team 𝐒𝐩𝐨𝐨𝐠𝐥𝐞 analyses the 77 year old history of the NBA since 1946, spanning 71 teams across 42 franchisee and presents the performances of the 10 best teams of all time in details. Although the teams have not been ranked on any scale and open to interpretations, factors like games won, championships won, home and away win percentages and several other performance based factors have been considered to select the best performing teams across 77 seasons and over 65,000 games. Spoogle’s elaborate and deep databases when churned brought out some interesting insights at the end of the 2022-2023 season : - 𝐁𝐨𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐧 𝐂𝐞𝐥𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐬 and 𝐋𝐨𝐬 𝐀𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐬 𝐋𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐫𝐬 have each won the championship a record 17 times. - The 𝐋𝐨𝐬 𝐀𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐬 𝐋𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐫𝐬 have also appeared in the most finals – 32 - 𝐁𝐨𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐧 𝐂𝐞𝐥𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐬 have played the most regular season games – 6032, won the most overall games – 3570 and the most road games – 1398 - 𝐒𝐚𝐜𝐫𝐚𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐨 𝐊𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬 have lost the most games - 3221 Comment as to who is the all time best NBA team in your opinion. Great to see Major League Soccer attendance increase YOY for a second-straight season, and the league's players are the X factor for further growth. What would further accelerate attendance gains would be more work by players to build their brand by leveraging the various elements of popular culture and amplifying content on these initiatives via social media. Together, this will have the dual impact of creating a larger community/marketplace around the athlete and cultivating greater interface value (connection between the brand and consumers). Strong interface value is proven to generate ongoing consumer "demand" for the product (e.g. Jordan Brand, syndication of any popular sitcom) - which in this scenario would be manifested through increased game attendance. In this respect, MLS has significant potential for further attendance growth as its players, beyond the biggest names, build their brand to the point they're increasingly becoming part of the mainstream cultural conversation. A little application of sport marketing theory to an interesting news story.
