Where is urban ecology headed? In a recent Ambio Special Section, world-leading urban scholars, including our Erik Andersson and Timon McPhearson, reflect on guiding urban development globally. The five papers synthesise knowledge to improve understanding, address social injustices, and advance urban ecological science. A must-read for urban researchers and practitioners! This is a crucial read for anyone involved in urban research and practice. The insights on understanding and addressing social injustices within urban development are particularly valuable. Kudos to the authors for advancing urban ecological science!
