⚛️ Our thruster runs on laughing gas and alcohol. It is green. It is safe. You can even consume our rocket fuel if you feel like it (not that we recommend it!). At Liftero, the only proper use of nitrous oxide and ethanol is to power our Whisper thruster. But that makes us even happier! In September we did another test campaign for the green Whisper propulsion, putting the test bench into operation and testing different ignition timings, injector designs and chamber geometries. “Direct numerical simulation of the turbulent flow around a Flettner rotor” is the name of a scientific report in the latest issue of NATURE. Three colleagues at RISE; Michael Leer-Andersen, Da-Qing Li and now retired Björn Allenström, are being quoted. RISE is developing advanced CFD methods to predict the performance of wind propulsion devices (e.g. Flettner rotors and wing sails) onboard ships in full-scale operational conditions.
