Sometimes we've got to shrink to think! After 9 decent years, our exploratory store of Pookipoiga focusing on gifting is about to close its doors. Our online store will keep its virtual doors open! ( One can request the world's first Inhouse Happy birthday singing and corn starch pellet throwing instead of confetti. We can even play the recipient's favourite songs - even footy anthems ) My community here is invited for our grand farewell (think Mulled wine, savoury treats, homemade brownies, door prizes etc.) We are officially finishing up on July 15th. If there is one thing that I have learned along the way over the last 12 years serving the community, it is that, now, more than ever, any business needs a considerable amount of time and energy input ( even if you use the bloody AI). If it is a socially and environmentally conscious business, add triple the energy and time. So the time has come for me to reassess and figure out the next impactful adventure but this time something very scalable. Glad to share my paper published 12 years ago: Organization of mega sports events: cases and models Luiz Felipe Giacomelli Indiana University South Bend -USA Amy Henkelman Indiana University South Bend -USA Abstract: Through some bibliographic studies and successful cases in the sports world, this study aims to guide the manager in the organization of mega sport events in order to attract more public, adding value to the event and perpetuate the sport spectacle. First of all, it is necessary to make a general layout of the sport event to be held. You have to ask: What are the mission, vision and value that support the event? How the event fits into your strategy or tactics? What are the specific goals to be achieved? What to do to attract public? What to do for people get involved and interact with the event? Are they motivated only by watching and listening? What impact the event brings to the community? The event will be competitive or simply for interaction? What's the duration of the event? These and many other questions should be answered and clarified. It is necessary to know the sport in Brazil, to have a real assessment of the national reality in terms of conditions and needs. Only then it will be possible the construction and consolidation of professional administrative practices applied to various segments of the sport, while respecting the cultural and social characteristics of the country. In terms of organization of major sport events it is vital to have as reference what is the most professional and modern, so the Olympic Games should serve as a model for achieving a quality event. The Olympics are a powerful agent of planning, changing and restructuring of urban space and have an unquestionable power of transforming where they are made. In addition it is an opportunity to face chronic urban problems through the application of a new model of planning and management of cities. In a scenario of urban shortage of basic infrastructure, an event of this size can contribute to solve certain problems. But they can also undermine the already scarce public finances, and, depending the spatial distribution of the investments, they may even excite the level of social inequality. Given Labour's promises to support businesses and cut red tape, it's a ridiculous waste of resources, environmentally and socially harmful to close Boxpark when developers aren't due to start work. The high street is struggling, and Boxpark Shoreditch provides a crucial platform for innovative and experiential retail startups. It's the epitome of retail entrepreneurship and should be a priority for a Labour government that aims to support businesses. Get A Drip mag not exist as a brand today without BOXPARK granting us our first-ever retail location in Shoreditch when everyone else said no. We opened in May 2018 and are still trading there today. Since then, we have provided over 300,000 services, expanded to 37 locations across 3 countries, and employ over 200 staff within our network, contributing millions to the economy. Boxpark has undoubtedly been the catalyst for many other startup success stories. It's frustrating that Powerleague received an extension while Boxpark Shoreditch is left out. Glinianka Park in Łubna, in the southern suburbs of Warsaw, has changed its brand name to BIG Łubna.
