STOLI GOLD vodka won Gold medal at the 2024 San Francisco World Spirits Competition! STOLI GOLD Vodka has made a remarkable achievement by winning a Gold medal at the 2024 San Francisco World Spirits Competition. Organized by The Tasting Alliance, this prestigious event is the oldest and largest spirits judging competition in North America. STOLI GOLD, produced at the histrical Amber Latvijas Balzams in Riga, Latvia stood out among over 5,000 spirits entries, impressing a panel of expert judges who recognized it as one of the top vodkas in the world. What sets STOLI GOLD apart is its unique production process: before blending with spirit, the artesian water utilized in the product is filtered through shungite that absorbs every imperfection. The precious liquid of STOLI GOLD then undergoes a traditional chill filtration through quartz sand and activated birch charcoal. The crowning feature is the final filtration through coils of gold threads, from which STOLI GOLD gets its distinctive name, unsurpassed quality and luxurious touch. This approach integrates and benefits the inhabitants of municipalities recognized with the Denomination of Origin. 📊 The year 2023 saw the production of 598.7 million liters of tequila, equivalent to the consumption of 2.2 million tons of agave. Today, Mexico boasts 2,539 certified tequila brands and 41,840 agave producers. In Guanajuato alone, there were at least 6,447 agave producers registered by the end of 2022. 🎉 Celebrating 30 Years of the CRT in 2024 From April 15 to 27, various activities will be held to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Denomination of Origin Tequila (DOT) and the 30th anniversary of the CRT. Shot of the Week: Three people with three different problems happened to run into each other and create one of the worlds most iconic cocktails. The Bar Owner 🍸 Jack Morgan owned a small pub, Cock n’ Bull, in Hollywood. He had a fascination with ginger, and had created a fermented ginger drink that packed way more of a ginger punch than ginger ale. He was trying to sell it in the pub, but customers were used to the sweetness of ginger ale and he wasn’t sure how to have them test his ginger beer. The Business Man 💼 John Martin had recently purchased the Smirnoff distillery. While today that seems like a great investment, in 1941, vodka wasn’t nearly as popular in US. John was struggling to find ways for consumers to enjoy his vodka. The Immigrant 🛬 A Russian immigrant named Sophie Berezinski came to America with 2,000 solid copper mugs, and so far had no buyers. Her father had owned a copper factory in Russia and she brought the mugs over to the US in hopes of selling them, but now her husband insisted she find a buyer immediately to get them out of their small house. A bit of luck 💡 It just so happened that Sophie walked into the Cock n’ Bull pub on the same day that John was there, trying to sell vodka his to Jack. The three of them worked together and invited what we now know as the Moscow Mule, the perfect cocktail to all of their problems. If you have been watching the Australian Open then you have likely been wondering what the 1573 branding is all about? The answer is Baijiu. Since 2019, Guojiao 1573 has been highly visible behind the players in Rod Laver Arena, and Court 2 was even renamed to 1573 Arena. But what is it? Luzhou Laojiao is a Chinese distillery that dates back to 1573 AD in the Ming Dynasty. Guojiao 1573 (translated as National Cellar 1573) is baijiu and it's the most popular spirit in the world (most would guess whisky, vodka or gin!). In Mandarin, "bai" means "white" and "jiu" means "liquor". That pretty much describes it! This one is made from fermented sorghum and is usually served neat at room temperature. Try it if you get the opportunity (but note that it's not cheap!). #foodandbeverage #spiritsindustry #baijiu #australianopen #manufacturing
