The timeline for divorce varies depending on the situation. If you and your spouse can agree on the major issues, an uncontested divorce typically takes between 6-10 weeks. That’s because it doesn’t require long court hearings and can be finalized relatively quickly. On the other hand, a contested divorce—where spouses can’t agree on terms—can take months or even years, especially if a trial is needed. The process can be stressful, but with the right legal support, we can help speed things up and reduce the stress. Curious about your case? Reach out today and we’ll give you a timeline that works for you! . #harrisfirm #childcustody #childcustodymatters #divorcehelp #custodybattle #childsupport #alabamafamilylaw #familylawyer #divorcesolutions #familyrights #familylaw

Detecting And Addressing Hidden Assets In Divorce During a divorce, each spouse is typically expected to provide complete and accurate financial statements to facilitate the court’s decision-making processes related to the division of marital property as well as any orders concerning child support and any awards of alimony or separate maintenance. In an ideal scenario, both parties will be forthcoming and deliver the appropriate information in a timely manner, both to each other (or to the other spouse’s lawyer, if either spouse is working with professional legal representation) and to the court. However, spouses sometimes attempt to evade the financial disclosure requirements. In California, divorce is primarily based on irreconcilable differences, indicating a complete breakdown of the marriage with no realistic hope of reconciliation. California operates as a “no-fault’ divorce state. While factors like domestic violence, adultery, and abandonment may be important for other reasons in your case, they are not needed to obtain a divorce. Further, while certain misconduct such as a breach of fiduciary duties may impact property division or support arrangements, they are not prerequisites to having a California court grant you a divorce. #CaliforniaDivorce #NoFaultState #LegalInsights We’re here to help guide you through all aspects of your family law matter - visit our website to request a review of your case.

How property is divided during a divorce is often one of the factors that leads to the most disagreement between spouses. Property is rarely divided equally in a divorce. Instead, it’s divided “equitably.” Property division is meant to be fair, given the earning ability and contribution of each spouse. Spouses tend to disagree on what an equitable division looks like. Unfortunately, when they can’t come to an agreement, the court will decide for them. Are you going through a divorce in North Carolina?
