A Consequential Education at Gettysburg College makes an impact for our graduates long into the future. In a report by the Georgetown University Center on Education and the Workforce: ROI of Liberal Arts Colleges, Gettysburg College is ranked No. 29 and No. 32 among liberal arts colleges for 10-year and 40-year Net Present Value (NPV), respectively. Net Present Value (NPV) refers to how much a sum of money in the future is valued today when taking into account costs, future earnings, and the length of time required to invest and earn a specific amount over a fixed horizon. In an analysis of 40-year return on investment (ROI) of 4,500 colleges and universities, Gettysburg ranks in the top 1% in the nation among liberal arts colleges for lifetime ROI, according to the Georgetown University Center on Education and the Workforce. Upon learning of the demise of Wells College, someone from Elon University commented that "it is not necessarily a bad thing". It most certainly is a bad thing for the students directly impacted by this and the faculty and administrators who are about to lose their jobs. One of the things that has always bothered me about working in higher education is the lack of empathy or understanding when something bad happens to another college or university. Greetings from BMC '97. Your Jewish alumni, parents of Jewish students, Jewish faculty, and staff have been through a year of incredible trauma at Bryn Mawr and Haverford, as a result of decisions, actions and complicit inactions by school administrators as a result of a hostile antisemitic environment on both campuses, in response to the Hamas terrorist attacks of October 7. While this recent lawsuit filed by the Deborah Project is against Haverford, Bryn Mawr's complicity is also implicated - allowing an "encampment" and permitting Haverford students who had committed antisemitic acts of violence to come to Bryn Mawr and terrorize the women there. Recently, the BiCo News published an article by a visiting professor, which advocated for armed "revolution" against Israel (i.e., Jews), which contradicts every tenant of Bryn Mawr's Quaker tradition of nonviolence. Yet, when alumni posted a comment in response, her comment was deleted by BiCo editorial staff (twice). These aggressions, overt and micro, are but some recent examples of ongoing an unaddressed trauma and harm, for which there has been no acknowledgement, much less remediation and accountability. As far as I know, you are not a BMC graduate, so while your sentiments here about BMC's history and culture are nice, I was educated there, and have very memories of Bryn Mawr, so much so that I have contributed to the institution in innumerable ways since graduation. Memories that are now tarnished by the betrayal of watching an institution I loved turn on me like a snake, and betray every ideal it espoused in the process - logic, reason, tolerance and respect. Other alumni feel the same. So forgive me if your breezy post about Bryn Mawr's storied past and ice cream socials don't quite land. We look forward to engaging with you on these issues.

"How we view our self-image will create bias in how we see others," a profound lesson learned. This training has illuminated the importance of acknowledging and accepting our biases to foster compassion and unity. As realtors, it's crucial to recognize the impact of bias on our interactions and decision-making processes. Becoming a realtor has not only opened doors for me professionally but also widened my perspective on the progress we've made in fair housing laws.
