This one thing about brass statue making has drastically evolved over the years... I'm talking about the design process! Our design process has come a long way and it's fascinating to see how things have changed Back in the day, we relied on the lost wax process with coconut leaves to create the initial prototype. This was a time-consuming and very hands-on process. Then came clay – a step up in detail, but still very hands-on. With clay, sculptors would take the impression of the idol and then craft a new one using it. A few years back, we saw the rise of silicone modelling, offering even more precision. This certainly was a game changer to create more intricate designs. And now? We're living in the age of 3D printing! Imagine creating a highly detailed first model with the push of a button. It's revolutionized the initial stages of design, allowing us to experiment with complex shapes and bring ideas to life even faster. But here's the thing: Technology doesn't replace the human touch. Paper? Not so easy to work with... I have been aspiring to use the Naturals cardboard from the Jean cardboard factory, in Bonnat, Creuse; A range of graphic cardboard, thick, textured, 100% recycled and offering a very beautiful hand. But any change in material must be tested and the cutting tools adapted and then finely adjusted. For the "Maisons de la côte d'argent" range, the cutting is carried out by Relux System in Mérignac. The shape is complex and the adjustment of the plate, to the tenth of a millimetre, is here carried out by Jean Michel Geonget; Its know-how ensures a homogeneous cut over the entire shape. Printing is underway at Graphic Sud in Agen.
