What is your top advice for someone starting their entrepreneurial journey? Here is mine ⬇️ Here’s mine: You can run your own business. The expectations and requirements you have in your head are not real. There are 33.2 million businesses in the US. All of them require a leader. Only one of those businesses is led by Mark Zuckerburg, Satya Nadella, or Tim Cook. The rest? They are run by people just like you and just like me. So what’s stopping you? #Entrepreneurship #Founders #BusinessTips #Leadership #BusinessGrowth

Sometimes, I forget just how smart my friends are. Recently, I listened to a podcast where my friend Ellen Williams interviewed another friend, Alan Furlong. Their conversation was packed with so many gems that almost every point they made was a "writer-downer." Here are my top takeaways (though I strongly suggest you listen to the podcast too): 1. All-In, Not All-Costs: You can fully commit to a business goal without sacrificing your entire life. Balance is key. 2. Embrace Failure: Most successful entrepreneurs have faced multiple failures. It's part of the journey. 3. Micro-Pauses Matter: Taking a short break can significantly reduce stress. Remember, pausing isn’t quitting. An hour, a day, or a weekend can make a huge difference. 4. Learn Before Leaping: Before diving into a new venture, take the time to learn. It saves time, effort, and money in the long run. 5. Unpredictability is Okay: Life doesn’t always need a detailed plan. Embrace the randomness. Another friend Matt Ballantine is writing a book on this topic. Follow him. 6. Move Forward Despite Fear: Fear is a natural companion on the journey for most people. Keep it in the backseat as much as possible and don’t let it drive if you can help it. Here’s how I’m putting these insights into practice (and you can too): 1. Plan a Micro-Pause: - Schedule some downtime—be it an hour, a day, or a week. - Use this time to decompress before diving into new plans. 2. Learn from Others: - Identify experts and resources for your new thing. Lately, podcasts have been my go-to for learning. 3. Manage Fear: - Keep a note with you that says, "Fear can go in the backseat" (I shall be laminating mine!). - Look at it and take deep breaths when fear tries to take the wheel. The podcast is Time To Press Pause by Ellen Williams of The Salient Strategist, Inc.. The episode with Alan Furlong of The Peaceful Entrepreneur is No. 15 and you can find it here: https://lnkd.in/ddSwDgFK. #Entrepreneurship #Leadership #PersonalGrowth #TimeToPressPause #ThePeacefulEntrepreneur #Podcasts

As we celebrate Father’s Day, it’s a perfect time to honour not only biological fathers but also the mentors and leaders who guide us, inspire us, and pave our paths. Today, I’m reflecting on a figure who has significantly influenced the world of business and entrepreneurship: Joseph Alois Schumpeter. Dubbed the "Father of Entrepreneurship," Schumpeter was more than just a theorist. He was an architect of ideas, crafting the foundational concepts that define today’s entrepreneurial spirit. His emphasis on innovation and the courage to take calculated risks are lessons that resonate deeply within the entrepreneurial community. Schumpeter teaches us that it’s often those who dare to be different, who drive progress and inspire change. His insights are a beacon for both seasoned business leaders and those just beginning to shape their visions. So here’s to all the fathers, the biological ones who support us from day one, the mentors who guide us along our journey, and the thinkers like Schumpeter who challenge us to innovate and excel. Happy Father’s Day to all those who help us grow and dare to dream. #entrepreneurship #leadership #motivation #inspiration
