Today, on International Migrants Day 2023, we reflect on the immense contributions of migrants in every sector of our society, from healthcare to the arts. Their diverse talents and perspectives are invaluable to our global community. However, amidst this celebration, we must confront a significant health challenge: Tuberculosis. Migrants often encounter barriers to healthcare access, heightening their vulnerability to diseases like TB. This is more than a health issue - it is a human rights matter. Our #TBREACH initiative, in partnership with @health_janna in Northeast Nigeria 🇳🇬 , is assisting 2 million internally displaced persons by providing testing and access to treatment for TB and HIV. This type of initiative underscores our belief that healthcare is a fundamental right for all, irrespective of origin. Let's use this day to acknowledge the invaluable role of migrants and reaffirm our commitment to ensuring their health and well-being. 🔗 https://lnkd.in/eEGQ-jvU #MigrantsDay #EndTB #StandUp4HumanRights #IMD2023

Workers in the unorganised sector constitute about 93% of the total workforce in India. A lot of them are informal migrant workers who live in difficult conditions and are most likely to be left behind when it comes to accessing healthcare and social protection services. Read about how a community-based service model at the workplaces of migrant workers of unorganised or informal sector is #MakingADifference in #ReachingTheUnreached with comprehensive services - including for HIV and TB. Gujarat AIDS Awareness and Prevention - GAP team with support from International Labour Organization (ILO) has screened ~40,000 migrant workers of unorganised or informal sector in few districts of Gujarat and helped support those (with linkage to government-run HIV and TB services) in a comprehensive manner. Happy International Youth Day from WOJE Today, we proudly celebrate International Youth Day, recognizing the boundless energy and potential of our youth, who represent 73.6% of South Sudan’s population. Their enthusiasm and vision are crucial to shaping a brighter future for our nation. At WOJE, our mission goes beyond celebration—we are dedicated to empowering women and girls, advocating for essential policy changes, and combating gender-based violence. Over the past five years, our efforts have led to significant achievements, including the implementation of vital hygiene and HIV prevention programs and the advancement of critical policy reforms. Today, we also reaffirm our commitment to the principles of frameworks such as UNSCR 1325, CEDAW, and the Maputo Protocol. These frameworks are crucial for safeguarding rights and ensuring justice. Additionally, we are focused on the localization of these regional and international standards into South Sudan’s National Action Plan, ensuring they are effectively integrated and implemented. As we celebrate the potential of our youth, we also call for greater involvement in decision-making and advocacy. Together, we can drive forward these crucial changes and build a more equitable society for all. Join us in this vital mission and in celebrating the incredible potential of our youth. #InternationalYouthDay #Empowerment #SocialJustice #WomenForJustice #WOJE #YouthPotential #PolicyAdvocacy #CEDAW #UNSCR1325 #MaputoProtocol #ChildAct #NationalActionPlan

Africa's Death Belt Don't blame the road. Blame me. Blame you. We have twisted our norms and values away from that basic tenet of humanity: respect. And our international friends, please stop looking at road safety in Africa as a challenge of road design. Neither is it a challenge of sensitisation. It's deeper. It's down to norms and values (institutions) twisted by post-independence turmoil. The state can't solve this problem. It can only inspire and coordinate society to act. The challenge is deeper than law. We need structures of morality (churches, mosques, elders, and the like). But we can do it. Look at Museveni and HIV/Aids. Except, death on the road is drips. It lacks the jolt of HIV/Aids. How do we create an urgency of crisis? #africa #afdb #worldbank https://lnkd.in/eKGp_m4v

PEPFAR's Conflict/Crisis Working Group Ambassador Nkengasong has formally recognized our newly established Countries in Conflict/Crisis working group, a dedicated team focused on enhancing the HIV/AIDS response in countries facing crises and conflict due to political instability, civil unrest, violence, war, and/or climate-induced crises. This group, comprised of PEPFAR Coordinators, Program Managers, and USG staff, will collaborate with PEPFAR Technical and COP25 Working Groups to develop principle-driven strategies and guidance. Led by Shawn Wesner, alongside Robert Kelly and Tiana J., the group will collaborate with thought partners to develop strategies and guidance for flexible programming in these countries. This includes robust MER data collection and targeted support for vulnerable populations like refugees, migrants, and internally displaced persons. This new working group recognizes this perilous moment in time and aims to serve our PEPFAR colleagues more effectively by providing the necessary guidance for flexible programming during times of unrest. #GlobalHealth #HIV #CrisisResponse #Collaboration #PEPFAR #hivprevention #hivtesting #sbc #usaid #cdc #pepfar #peacecorps #southsudan #programdevelopment #internationaldevelopment #publichealth #globalhealth #sbcc #healthcommunication #behaviorchange #malemotivation #stigma #hivinfection #uganda #Burma #harmreduction #pwid #keypopulations #systemsthinking #Burma #Myanmar

Labor and Migration Rights. Climate change Advocate. Migration communication. I'm passionate about Labor rights(Domestic Workers) ,Employment-based migration with keen focus on GCC member states
URGENT APPEAL!! We have been receiving reports of migrants workers who have transmitted HiV/Aids specifically Kenyan migrants workers in UAE most recent transmissions in Albarsha. They don't have access to Prep or any ARVs. These are legit migrants workers or sometimes illegal migrants. Any leads to an organization that can intervene to help stop further transmission and also help in offering medical intervention? The matter is escalated by the fact that some women migrants are involved in prostitution as a way of earning a living there to service life there. Something we are also investigating to understand how deep it is. If you have leads about a medical facility to assist in this you can reach out to me or at afrikasheis@gmail.com. #moderndayslavery #domesticworkers #Humanrights #Labormigration
