My mentor Carl Seville impressed upon me that you "Only get what you inspect when you inspect." One of the homeowners' misperceptions is that they expect a code-built house inspected by government officials to be perfect with no issues. This is not possible given the time constraints they have on them. This is why 3rd party inspections are critical and why we at SawHorse, Inc. prefer green building certifications. Inspections and testing are part of that process. Most builders choose not to get certified and prefer the "trust me bro!" branding. I know Brett Little is a fan of green certifications and testing, as he talks about it all the time and shares stories about his house as well. Mike Holmes is dealing with a builder who used his "Holmes Approved Homes" brand without using the inspection process. This builder benefited from the brand without going through the quality control process. This is like stating that a home is built to "Passive House Standards" without going through the inspection process. It is not a #passivehouse without the approval, testing, and inspections. I got a call last week from an editor or a building magazine asking for help on the house they just purchased. It came with several issues due to poor inspections and bad craftsmanship. They asked what they could do now since it is still under warranty and how this could have been avoided. 1. Inspect at the different construction phases as the house is being built. You can't see all the mistakes behind the walls if you wait until the home is finished. 2. If you are buying a new or used home- hire an inspector who is inspecting for general code compliance and home performance. This means they also need to bring a blower door and infrared camera to the inspection. What are your thoughts on how we can improve the inspection process and make buildings better? https://lnkd.in/e3SVA9k3

Integrity isn't just a fancy word we throw around. It's what we're built on. At Robinson Brothers, we've seen it all. From a small TI project to a 100,000 sq ft build. And we can tell you, integrity is non-negotiable. It's not just about being honest when it's easy. It's about doing the right thing, even when it's hard. Integrity means keeping our promises. Even if it means going the extra mile. It's about being transparent with our clients. So they know exactly what they're getting. Integrity is about showing up on time. And delivering quality work, every time. So when you work with our team, you're choosing integrity. Because that's what we do every day. #robinsonbrothers #construction #commercial

Long-term relationships are all we know. From our clients to our teammates. We have decades-long relationships with our clients. And we have employees who have been with us since the 90s. Most of our employees have been with us for 15-20 years. How did we do this? Prioritizing long-term relationships. And that's the name of the game at Robinson Brothers. Long-term relationships > Short-term transactional relationships. And that's not changing anytime soon. #robinsonbrothers #construction
