Overbury have a released a cross-sector industry report which highlights 'Why did a group of cross-sector industry experts come together to define the current upfront carbon* performance level for Cat B office fit out?' Because if we’re optimistic, the shell and core plus Cat A of a building are built to last 60 years and 20 years respectively. During this time, there’ll be multiple Cat B fit outs. If a fit out takes place every 5 to 10 years, then the Cat B carbon impact could equal that of the shell and core plus Cat A in as little as 20 years. This cumulative Cat B carbon cost is why their research is so important. The research findings have been submitted to the UK NZC Buildings Standard to help inform their setting of upfront carbon limits for the office sector going forward. Discover the innovative design and cutting-edge construction in healthcare! This world-class health system wanted to update a suite of physician offices without impacting the other units in the building. Using the DIRTT Construction System allowed them to redefine the space without taking the rest of this ambulatory care facility offline. Building DIRTT wall assemblies off-site while the base building was being prepped for construction allowed them to streamline the schedule. It also reduced the amount of noise and drywall dust on-site. Those assemblies could be quickly tipped up into place during installation which also saved time. And because the modular walls are designed for disassembly, if the doctors decide they need to convert offices into meeting spaces, adapting the space will be quick, clean, and quiet too.
