CEO | Founder | Alpha | Career & Talent Strategist 💥 Obsessed With Connecting High-Caliber People #powercouples #powermatches 💥
Laid off after 29 years at one company. A big reorg ended up cutting 400 people… including a senior leader who thought she’d finish her career at this company. A top producer who moved into leadership. Got steady promotions. Liked her work, liked her team, and was comfortable where she was. And then it all disappeared. A steady track record of success with a company is not a guarantee that you’ll still be there 1, 5, or 10 years from now. And YOUR loyalty won’t guarantee THEIR loyalty. It’s great to stick with a company for years at a time. Rolling stones gather no moss, after all. But your first loyalty should be to YOUR career, not the company where you work. It’s your life. It’s your career. It’s your skills that are creating results. Make sure that you’ve got a plan, and take care of yourself.

I (F) texted my boss (M) today, and said FYI, I’m bringing my daughter to work with me today. His response: “Fun!” Penelope then proceeded to spend about 5/6 hours in the facility today. In that time, executive team members, leaders and colleagues: brought her treats, watched videos with her, gave her a name badge, talked with her, engaged with her, played play-doh with her, colored with her and more! But most importantly, were genuinely excited to see her. This experience is priceless. As a working mom, the stress and guilt about balancing home and work are endless. When the dominoes fall just the wrong way, and you are out of options on a work-day, the stress and guilt can heighten to an inexplicable feeling. But not for me, not today. Instead, Penelope got to witness the gears that make a facility tick, see momma hard at work, and make a few new friends in the process. Plus, we got to hang out a little more than we otherwise would have. My boss could have easily made a snide remark, or even flat out said no. But he instead, made a choice, to not only accept it, but encourage it. It changed the whole day, for the better, for many people. And who knows, it could have a significant impact on Penelope and her viewpoint of the workplace. A whole new generation learning to lead from this action as well. I hope more leaders out there understand the true value in this. And I couldn’t be more grateful for mine. Photo from a different day. But she rocks that Lake Erie Arms name badge!

On a mission to connect 100 Founding Engineers with their highest impact | Connection is my craft | Full stack parent | Seed & Series A Startups | AI, Web3, SaaS
It's no secret that recruiting can be a grind - 100%. But at Coastal Recruiting we work smarter, so a lot of that weight is off the individuals and instead on the systems we've built (which can handle it!). Allowing us to serve at our highest impact. This leads to more levity, more energy and more creativity in our day to day. And as we've seen - more RESULTS for our founders 💞 . Yes, please! When you pick an agency to partner with - it's not a SaaS product - it's a team of humans. Trust me - you're going to want to pick the humans who aren't burnt out and pushing a boulder up a hill everyday. Go with the team who's using a fulcrum.
I couldn’t be more grateful for our team. Every day, they push me to think about ways we can work smarter, not harder. And every day - I remind them I’m new to recruiting and need all the directional feedback I can get ;) We’ve somehow assembled the hardest working recruiters in the game (if you think you have a strong work ethic, come work with us for a week and you’ll see what I mean…) We’re building unique systems and processes to allow us to scale in a very unconventional way (I might be wrong… but hey, at least we’re trying!) but we don’t earn the right to do this without our team. Their willingness to lean in, test the crazy ideas we toss out there, and always keep the pedal to the metal is damn special. The most rewarding part? Seeing the ‘test’ initiatives we put in production start to work.. in a meaningful way 😎

Rolling Meadows is where iReturn started back in 2017! Over the last four years, Jimmy, a Northrop Grumman hiring manager, has had the pleasure of interviewing, training or hiring 7 of the nearly 40 Rolling Meadows-based iReturners and feels it has been a wonderful experience across the board. “In all the cases I’ve come across, the employment gap has been a result of common life events. The common theme among all these events is what I like to call ‘managing chaos’. Plans change often around here, and having someone with the patience to understand that plans change, and chaos can be managed is incredibly helpful.” Jimmy knows the value of iReturn and knows the positive impact a manager can have on someone’s confidence as they return. “The hiring manager can be most helpful with the iReturner by being transparent, providing resources/mentors, and setting clear goals.” Are you thinking about returning to work after a current 2+ year career break? Jimmy’s advice is to take the leap! “We have the mentors to train everyone and processes to keep an individual on track – we’ve been doing this for years and we’ve refined our process down to a science. We love seeing new faces and hearing fresh perspectives!” Check out our iReturn Careers site for more information on the program and how to apply. #iReturn #Taketheleap

Reposting this inspiring message from Jeff Henderson about providing meaningful employment and fostering a supportive community. If you share this vision and have a passion for running, consider opening a Fleet Feet franchise. It's a unique opportunity to combine your love of running with owning your own business, providing meaningful employment, and becoming a community leader. Let's talk about Fleet Feet franchise opportunities and how you can make a difference in your community. Let's Go. #FleetFeet #FranchiseOpportunity #Entrepreneurship
Providing meaningful employment for 100+ incredible individuals. It’s a big part of my why. What makes this crew so special is how they step up to support each other, to support our community, and selfishly… me. When life throws a curveball that forces you to take a step back make sure you’ve surrounded yourself with exceptional people. From my amazingly strong and fierce wife, to this crew I wouldn’t choose to do this thing called life with anyone else.

Fostering Talent for the Future of Work | Founder @ MRA Global Sourcing | Author: 'Fire The Boss, Keep The Love' | Editor @ The Supply Times | AI & Supply Chain Proponent | Startup Advisor
I started my first job at Navistar on a sunny summer day. I was keyed up and nervous about making a good first impression. So imagine my surprise when, after lunch, my interim manager told me I could take the afternoon off and go enjoy the beautiful day. “Is this some kind of test?” I thought. But it was a gorgeous day outside, so I took him up on it. Let’s just say it was the last afternoon I ever got off. Back when I started, I was navigating an hour-long commute from Chicago to Navistar’s headquarters. But after a few days of enduring brutal traffic, I adjusted my routine, arriving at the office around 7 AM daily. Arriving early and leaving late helped me dodge the dreadful commute and ensured visibility with higher-ups. Plus earning a reputation as the early bird willing to tackle any project wasn’t a bad start. That first job was a golden opportunity and I truly saw it for what it was—a launching pad. And looking back, the way I made the most of the opportunity boils down to one thing: sheer hard work. My grad school experience taught me theoretical knowledge, but practical business had its learning curve. I devoured the leadership books and articles that my boss suggested and made The Wall Street Journal my lunchtime companion. I know praising hard work may seem old-fashioned in today’s working world. But in the early stages of your career, there really is no substitute for putting in the hours. For those starting in their careers, I cannot think of better advice than this: persist, work hard, and keep educating yourself. If you keep going, the rewards will come. *** 📕 This story is an excerpt from my upcoming book Fire the Boss, Keep the Love: 10 Jobs, 10 Exits, 10 Lessons. If you want to access more sneak previews, sign up for my newsletter The Supply Times, where I’ll be posting one new excerpt a week along with the latest news on supply management and the Future of Work
