A complex system, a lack of transparency, and a need to listen more to educators and schools—these are just some of the issues raised during our EdTech Strategy Lab Summer Workshop Series. The first workshop of the series set the tone with lively debate about how academics, researchers, and other key stakeholders in the EdTech ecosystem can join forces to craft robust, evidence-based and trustworthy evaluation frameworks. 💡 Curious to know more about our discussions? The full workshop summary from our session on Academic and Researchers is now available on the EdTech Strategy Lab website: https://lnkd.in/dzSFdMMM

Putting impact in education on the map 📍 We’re excited to be part of the European Edtech Alliance and EmpowerED European EdTech map 🎉 Even more, we’re happy about our participation in the EmpowerED impact focus group on "Pedagogical Mentoring in Product Development" through our Head of Authors Lola Garay Abad. We focused on two specific topics: 1. Applying Research in EdTech Product and Service Development 2. Methodological Approaches for Pedagogical Mentoring in EdTech Being part of a space that recognises the strong need for pedagogical awareness in EdTech solutions motivates us to keep empowering teachers with research-led decisions. In line with this, we will soon release insights from our first impact study, which will significantly enhance our mission to support teachers in unlocking every student's potential. Stay tuned! #EdTech #EducationImpact #EdTechMap

Hey edtech founders, I want to talk to you (and share an announcement!). At Transcend Network, we’ve helped more than 350 founders get their first customers, find product-market fit, and get their first investments. We've seen it all at this point... If I had to choose 1 learning from this (and you’ll hear me say this everyday 😂) is that nothing matters more than getting strong PMF in the early days – it's the foundation for everything else! It's not fundraising, not the PR, not having a shiny MVP… the most important thing in the early days is to validate that your customer *actually* cares about the problem you solve for them. In our last cohort, we helped founders run 500+ PMF experiments (!!!) across our entire cohort and had an NPS of 92, serving 35 founders from 19 different countries. We are excited to announce today that we are opening up applications for our 14th Transcend Fellowship cohort! You can watch the full video and apply now here: ➡️ https://lnkd.in/dyDD9Rk If you are a founder or know one that could benefit from this type of support, feel free to tag them in the comments or apply before June 28th!

This is exactly the kind of work I would love to see more of in the social sector
Outside of my day job at the Centre for Public Impact, I’m honored to do qualitative research for — and even better, WITH — my community. One exciting project is leading the learning strategy for Tacoma's second guaranteed income demonstration, GRIT 2.0. Over the last 4 months, alongside my co-lead Dr. Yve Susskind and our partners at United Way of Pierce County, we've brought together a team of former GRIT recipients and local policymaker representatives to create a shared learning agenda. After many meetings (fueled by good food!), we've made a plan informed by what our community needs to know to advance GBI. You can check it out below. There isn’t a question on here that isn’t tied to our shared goal of policy change. This is a dream project for me, because it started from an idea born of frustration. When I worked at a non-profit administering cash transfers, researchers often asked us to send out complicated surveys. Very few had actually involved people with lived experiences of the programs in their research design. These researchers also didn’t ask policymakers what evidence THEY needed for policy change. With one notable exception (the Trust & Invest Collaborative in Boston), none of this research was participatory. Seeing this, I wondered: What would a truly co-created learning approach look like, one that’s grounded in participants’ experiences and laser-focused on systems change? I’m thankful my frustrations matched UWPC’s hopes for GRIT 2.0. They wanted to anchor GRIT 2.0 in the power of participants' stories to influence policymakers and community narratives. Their vision led us to take a completely participatory approach — a rarity in U.S. guaranteed income research. I’m deeply grateful for my UWPC partners Venus Dean-Bullinger, Shawn Paton, and our Learning Team collaborators (first and foremost the 4 former GRIT recipients, plus Gwendolyn T., Evan Koepfler, Bucoda Warren, MPA, Paige Armstrong, Lindsay Morgan Tracy). Special shout-out also to my co-lead, Dr. Yve Susskind, a true kindred spirit from whom I’m learning so much. I can't wait to see the impact we'll make together!
