Principal at StormTree® Sustainable stormwater management and green infrastructure design engineer and systems provider

It does rain in Southern California   The stormwater manager for Chino Hills, California was kind enough to send me a side-by-side comparison of one of the StormTree tree filter systems that was originally installed in 2019, and in December on a rainy day. When it does rain, the sump within the tree filter collects the runoff and screens out the sand, leaves, and trash, while reducing nutrient, and then naturally infiltrates it to replenish the subsurface aquifer and/or conveys it to the subsurface infrastructure. The ADA compliant grate has a grit surface which reduces the slip factor for those who like to walk in the rain.   #stormwatermanagement #landscapearchitecture #stormtree #landscapedesign #trees #urbanplanning #urbanlandscaping #cityinfrastructure #sustainablecities #treeroots #urbandesign #naturebasedsolutions

Ms Ann, you should know better.... please do some research on the viability of the available soil to support the tree, the specified tree (previously usually specified as a dogwood), and the concrete collar around the tree preventing any future growth... the concept is heavy on the technical/engineering, but light on the bio and GI aspects that you are promoting and responsible for....
