As a startup founder, I have the change to refine our branding often (cuz we have near nothing now ^^"). Here's what I find effective: 1. Focus narratives on impacts beyond the product, connecting our vision and goals to broader societal or industry challenges. 2. Discuss potential outcomes, what we stand for or against, and adjust the story for varied audiences. 3. Create compelling headlines or book titles for memorable engagement. I hope these tips are useful for early-stage founders!

Monday Founder thoughts: Comfort Zone you say. What’s that?!? One of the biggest learnings from being a #founder is that you are forever out of your comfort zone. You are constantly learning on the job. No two days are ever the same. You may plan tasks for the day, only to find yourself having to do something completely different that you don't expect. Amongst a ton of other things, last week I found myself: - wearing a design hat, designing flyers and banners. I am by no means a designer! 😬 - managing the product roadmap. I had no idea what a product roadmap was until I started on this journey 🙈 - recruiting for a Growth Product Lead. I’ve never hired for one before, and had no idea what I was looking for. Huge shout out to Nick Black and Bhavesh Mistry for the support here 🙌 - negotiating a really cool partnership (more on that another time) 🔥 - putting together our data room and updating our business model, ahead of our next #fundraise 💰 #femalefounder #startupjourney #healthtech #newskills #careergrowth -------- 👇 Does this resonate with you? ♻️ Repost to inspire people to take the leap into the unknown 👉Follow me Laura Stembridge for more learnings, reflections and insights on starting a start-up

🚀 Scaling is hard. Most start-ups skip one of the most important steps. Product positioning. 🌟 But what is it and why should you bother doing it? 🎯 Get to Know Your Audience: Understand what makes them tick. 🌟 Show Your Unique Side: What sets you apart from the pack? 💡 Tell Your Story: What’s the one thing that makes you a must-have? 🌍 Find Your Niche: Define where you fit best and shout about it! 👥 Let Your Personality Shine: Make sure your startup’s vibe is on point. 🔍 Scope Out the Competition: Know what you’re up against and how you’re different. 📣 Keep It Clear: Make sure your message is crystal clear. 🎨 Look the Part: Your visuals should match your vibe. 💬 Stay Consistent: Keep your story straight across all your channels. 🔄 Stay Flexible: Ready to pivot if things change! 💪Stay tuned for more in-depth content on how to actually "do" product positioning ✨ #StartupSuccess #StandOut #BrandPositioning

Brand recognition follows startup success, not the other way around. True impact comes from product-market fit and scalability. At one of my workshops, I was recently asked whether it's a good idea to outsource early product marketing for startup visibility. I think the allure of immediate visibility (like press coverage) offers short-lived benefits with little sustainable customer acquisition. Heavily investing in brand marketing from the start diverts essential resources from product development and understanding customer needs.* Instead, Focus on the core: 👉 refine your product, 👉 understand your market 👉 build meaningful customer relationships. This naturally leads to a strong, recognisable brand/ product. Save the heavy brand marketing and outsourcing for when your product has already set the stage. How do you prioritise substance over style in the early stages? Keen to hear your thoughts below! #startupstrategies *This reminds me of an article by Andrew Chen

Marketing Manager | Outside the box, coming up with ideas on how to market what's inside it. | Strategy, Creativity, & Flexibility Driven Marketing
Focus Groups and Internal Studies = Echo Chambers and Opinion Bullies Ask an individual they will most likely be honest but soft ball it to the asker. Ask an individual who is anonymous, they will most likely be honest and pitch it fast to the asker. Ask a group and they will most likely agree with the loudest and the asker is left with unbalanced opinions. Ask a group who is anonymous and they will fight with each other, never reaching agreement, and giving no valuable answer to the asker at all. Make the audience comfortable enough to answer honestly, and informed enough to answer knowledgeably. Apt to this issue ... "You can be loud, you can be wrong, never be both"
Most start-ups fail because they don't stop to ask "is this (idea, product, thing) even any good"? Mike Bradbury is one of the most brilliant people I know when it comes to marketing, messaging, and people. I asked him about why startups fail. He said that when R&D is combined with a sales approach and aspirations... it's trash. What reasons have you seen start-ups fail? If I were to start up, what are the biggest pitfalls to watch out for, and where should I invest most of my time?
