This Black History Month let’s reflect on the profound contributions of the Black community to our shared history. This month is not just a time to celebrate achievements but also an opportunity to deepen our understanding of the struggles, barriers, successes and triumphs that have shaped our nation and our global society. On the 31st day of my #100DaysOfHappiness journey, I find joy in the profound concept of stretching, especially on this inaugural day of celebrating Black History Month. Like a resilient tree reaching for the sun, the metaphorical stretching symbolizes not only growth but also the blessings that come with expanding our awareness. As we embark on this month of honoring Black history, let's acknowledge the richness found in the journey of understanding and appreciating the diverse tapestry that contributes to our shared narrative. Each leaf on the tree of history has a story to tell, adding depth and vibrancy to the collective experience. In stretching our perspectives, we sow the seeds of unity. It's a reminder that the more we learn about one another, the stronger our bonds become. Black history is an integral part of the broader human story, and by actively engaging with it, we foster a sense of togetherness. This stretching isn't just about knowledge acquisition; it's a call to empathy and understanding. It's about recognizing the struggles, triumphs, and contributions of the Black community throughout history and celebrating us as integral chapters in our shared narrative. So, here's to the joy found in the continuous stretch towards knowledge, empathy, and unity. May this Black History Month be a time of reflection, appreciation, and learning as we celebrate the diversity that enriches our world. Let's embrace joy in the unity that comes from understanding, respecting, and cherishing our shared history. 🌟✨ #BlackHistoryMonth #EmbraceJoy #UnityInDiversity

For Black History Month, I'm reading a lot about the shortage of Black folks in tech, and learning about the Black experience in the tech sector. I like this Harvard Business Review piece about that experience a lot. https://lnkd.in/epiPXWa7 #BlackHistoryMonth #BlackExcellence

Communication is 🗝 As a facilitator, I'm hyper-aware of 😆 the person who's dominating the conversation 😬 the person who's itching to say something but can't get a word in 😪 😴 the people who have completely zoned out 🤐 the person who hasn't uttered a single word And I direct the conversation to try and get everyone involved 👂🏾 "Let's hear from someone who hasn't spoken yet" 🧠 "Mo, what's on your mind?" 💡 "Who has a different perspective on that?" 🗨 "Discuss this with your neighbour and then share your thoughts with the group" Whether it's chairing meetings, presenting or speaking on a panel. We can all pick up bad habits or need to brush up on our skills from time to time. Check out Pendo Speaks to develop your or your team's communication skills!
