Last week, I was rejected in an interview because I couldn't complete coding the snake game within a specified time. I took it as a challenge and spent enough time coding it on my own. As I coded this small game, I fell in love with the snake. I'm not joking; the first game I played in my life was the snake game on a Nokia mobile, which was so crazy at that time. I still sometimes play snake io/slither io mobile games. I observed one thing among all those games: snakes eat a lot of stuff, but not even a small block was provided for them to poop. I believe developers should care, or I'd say fall in love with the characters of the game, and thus care for them. As a gesture of kindness for the snake I created, I let it poop in the game zone. 🫣 Make sure the snake doesn't eat it. Hello Connections 👋 I'm excited to announce I have started working on a personal project. In this, I will be developing a simple mobile game to familiarise myself with the process of game development. I began this project on 19th May, making it in the free and open-source software Godot Game Engine. My process has been periodic, completing an update almost every month. In my first update, I created all the basic mechanics that would be needed for the game. This update felt really bare, and I feel it would be a better sleeping aid than an enjoyable experience. In my second and latest update, I polished up my game, adding some extra features including a day and night cycle, a main menu, sound effects, and also porting the game to Android. I am going to continue to work on this for more time, adding new features and getting feedback from play testers. Turns out, when it comes to making video games, programmers would rather skip the coding 👀 Going back to our prototype phase, we wanted to really get what our users were about - what they liked, what they needed. So, we did some usability testing with 10 game devs - a mix of designers and programmers from our early adopter community. What we found was eye-opening: there's a clear cultural gap between designers and programmers. Programmers liked how fast our tool worked. But designers were skeptical. They're used to the mess of traditional game making, so they couldn't believe a simple tool could handle it. This is when we realized that Fiero could work for traditional game devs too ❤️ Make games without code. Make games without limits. Let’s break down those barriers. #gamedev #nocode #fiero

Day 4: Leveling Up with More Challenging Games! 🎮 Today, I pushed my frontend development skills even further by building four more classic retro games: Breakout: Created a brick-breaking game using canvas and collision detection. Frogger: Developed a classic arcade game with jumping, dodging, and river-crossing mechanics. Connect Four: Implemented the popular board game with AI opponent and victory detection. Space Invaders: Built a retro shooter game using canvas, collision detection, and keyboard input. These projects were more complex than the ones I built on Day 3, but I'm proud of my progress and the skills I've gained.
