The miracle of gratitude is that it can transform our lives in at least 4 ways: 1)     Gratitude towards the origin of every good leads to thanking God always. 2)     Gratitude for other people’s sacrifice makes us better Christians.  3)     Gratitude for the lessons learnt helps us grow spiritually 4)     Gratitude for the promise of a new beginning give us hope.

Before we enter the new year, let us be reminded to do our best to serve as the reflection of God's light and love. It is that time of the year that we have opportunity to review how we are faring and consider the strategies on how future hopes and aspirations would remain on target. The framework for this is Christmas, a period that Christians celebrate the birth of Jesus, popularly called the *First Advent*. The celebration is marked with Church Services, thanksgiving, familly re-union, festivities, and other activities. That of 2023 is here. I wish you happy activities and pray that you are able to find true meaning of life in the midst of the diificulllties, chaos and confusion the world has to offer. May 2024 bring brighter hope, peace of mind and fulfillment of all targets and aspirations. God is Love; the *Second Advent* imminent.

This sermon begins with an introduction to Hillsdale's philosophy of ministry. I introduce an illustration from the life of David that is a warning that "new carts" might work, but we should examine if they are God's will for His Work and Church. Hillsdale’s philosophy of ministry is timeless, not trendy. Our preaching runs counter to culture and popular trends. Our worship is Biblical. Our purpose is to Glorify God and not entertain the masses. Our focus is to preach the Gospel to the world and fulfill the Great Commission. Our ministry is not fashioned by polls or surveys but by a high view of God.
