I decided to use Node for writing the backend for my project. Node has a large dev pool, making it cheap to develop and maintain + has great community. As much as I would like to get into Go, the dev pool is too small + error handling looks ugh. I really like Python, but the lack of static typing is a big no for me. Java is great, but I opted out of it because of the lack of love from developers and the heavy runtime. --- Node Adopted because of the large developer pool, large community, common language with client and web, fast startup time, major players like Twitter using it, it being one of the most popular and widely used frameworks for backend development. Nodejs also handles async requests, making full use of underlying OS and of serverless hosting. Pros + Most popular technology currently + Developer pool is very big + Thriving community + Fast + Short project setup time + Async request handling Cons + Not compiled Go Rejected because of the small and expensive developer pool and weird error handling. Other than that it is a formidable language for backend development, and the fastest of all alternatives. Pros + Faster than all other viable options + Built, blessed and recommended by Google + Simple and to the point + Async request handling Cons + Development is expensive + Developer pool is small + Few developers are eager to write Go code Java Rejected because of slow startup time, clunky runtime and a developer pool that might not be eager to write Java. Other than that it is a formidable alternative. Pros + Static types + Compiled + Battle tested + Very fast + Async request handling Cons + Few developers are eager to write Java code + Clunky to set up Python Rejected because of lack of types, compilation and async request handling, making the code potentially prone to runtime errors. Django is also the least performant of all alternatives. Pros + Developer pool is very big + Thriving community + Short project setup time Cons + No static types + Not compiled + Not so fast + No async request handling
Choosing tech for a new app with backend. Small team and budget. Optimizing for the following, in order. 1. Operations cost 2. Execution speed 3. Code reliability 4. Developer satisfaction 5. Developer pool size

Excited to Share My Latest Project! Hey everyone, I'm thrilled to share my latest project with you all! I've been working on the Backend Service of Food Application for the past one month and I'm proud to finally showcase it. Project Overview: This is a Backend Service of Food Application. It was responsible for all types of operations such as login, signup, otp verification through mobile no., password encryption and decryption, and vendors can upload their food images. Everything is possible through the rest API. Key Features: Separation between vendor and customer Vendors can login and manage their store Customers can login and buy nearby location available food that shop vendor should open their service Customers get verified via OTP using Twilio after they signup Vendors can see how many orders they receive Every password is encrypted with a salt value and compared with the current typed password during login What I Learned: Throughout this project, I learned different things such as how the OTP verification process worked, and password encryption. I'm grateful for the opportunity to work on this project and I'm excited to apply my skills to future projects. Call to Action: Check out the project here: https://lnkd.in/gS2FUieu and let me know what you think! I'd love to hear your feedback and suggestions. "As Mobile App engineers, we spend a lot of time building software to realise a product vision which can be delivered to our end users. But can the same techniques we employ here be used to deliver software when the end users are other development teams?" Join Ricardo Frade, Adam Law and João Ferrão from Viator on this session. 🚀 Exciting Milestone: My First Complex Android App is Live! 🚀 After arround 1 and a half month of hard work, I’m thrilled to share Cabify, a fully functional cab booking Android app I’ve developed from scratch! What is Cabify? Cabify allows users to: 🚗 Book Cabs: Seamlessly find and book nearby drivers. 🗺️ Real-time Tracking: Track your driver’s location with HERE Maps API. 🔐 Secure Sign-in: Easy login via social media or email with Firebase Authentication. ❌Paymentent Gateway: initially I desided to use razor pay as payment gateway in my app, but unfortunately they rejected my card while trying to opening an account. 🔎 Driver Agreements: Ensuring background checks and GPS location consent for a safe ride experience. Tech Stack: Java for development. - Firebase for real-time database, authentication, and cloud storage. - HERE Maps API for precise navigation and live tracking. - Material Design for a smooth, user-friendly UI. - Okhttp for communication with rest api. - Lottie to display animations. * My github repo also contains a apk file, feel free to check it out. This has been an incredible learning journey, and I’m excited to continue growing as an Android developer. I’d love to connect with fellow developers and hear your thoughts! Check out the full project on my GitHub: https://lnkd.in/e9xtcRds 🔗 #androiddevelopment #appdevelopment #cabbooking #firebase #HEREMaps #materialdesign #lottie #mobileapp #portfolio #coding #tech
