Are AI agents here to save us? A few wildly different perspectives on the matter from the past week. (links in comments) Yesterday, Sam Altman's vision piece on the future of AI & agents: "AI models will soon serve as autonomous personal assistants who carry out specific tasks." Sam then goes on to his favorite topics around AGI and what will happen in "1000s of days". Marc Benioff last week kicked off Dreamforce with his "next big thing" around just this. Salesforce has always been strong with vision - and Benioff's POV around agents and workforce pressures today I'm sure turned many heads. As for keynote demos - they felt to me like more of a systems engineering effort than next-generation "help me automate 95% of my job" sort of agent. Finally, the WSJ last week had a piece on how tech is downsizing middle management (hi to former Simon Data customer Ben Kruger for the quote from your time at Google!). The piece addresses the true pain of the situation on the ground - doing more with less. What's your take? Do you see the vision? Or do you just feel the pain?

Just got back from Salesforce World Tour Sydney and I am amazed by the potential of AI in streamlining business processes. It is no longer just about hype - the technology is here. What resonated with me the most were the key takeaways from the event: AI isn't replacing jobs, it's augmenting them. The focus was on making complex tasks easier, freeing up our teams for higher-value, strategic work. And with "no-code" AI accessibility, Salesforce is democratizing AI, putting powerful tools into the hands of business users, not just data scientists. This is a game-changer for businesses. I am feeling energized and inspired to explore how we can leverage AI to simplify, streamline, and drive innovation within our own business to help our advisors and customers.
