Is the AI market intriguing, or is it becoming too similar? My answer and very enthusiastically, INTRIGUING! The diversity of ideas currently emerging in the AI market and the thrill of witnessing founders create revolutionary products have amazed me after nine years in software recruitment. Just when you think you've discovered several exciting projects to work on, another one appears that's even more captivating and enjoyable to pitch to prospective candidates in the AI market. 🤖 #PortmanScott #Hiring #Ai #MachineLearning #Founders

According to the 2024 Work Trend Index Annual Report from Microsoft and LinkedIn, the search for technical AI talent has surged 323% in the past eight years. This goes hand in hand with 66% of leaders saying they wouldn’t hire someone without AI skills today. Despite fears surrounding this new tech, it’s clear AI itself won’t outright replace people. But people who know AI will. The demand for AI talent is skyrocketing, but hiring managers are finding it tough to find top AI leaders and keep up with the growing list of challenges they’re up against: - Competition’s fierce, with demand for uniquely qualified talent far outweighing supply. - Generalist recruiters don’t know what to look for in this complex field. - Traditional recruiting — still relying on old rolodexes and cold calling — simply can’t deliver the right tech hires. All this in the world of AI that evolves at breakneck speed. Learn more about our specialized recruitment for AI and machine learning or get started: https://lnkd.in/gT2d3_Y6 #AI #recruitment

Building AI teams from scratch has been a rewarding journey in my career. But the toughest part was hiring the right talent. Everyone wants to move fast, and generating initial success is crucial to building momentum. Many teams and organizations face the same challenges when developing their AI strategy. After securing the right leader, enabling them to assemble a capable team is the next critical step. Initially, I focused on hiring team members with strong AI skills and some domain experience. This approach delayed my hiring and reduced the candidate pipeline. I noticed a stark difference in candidates’ skills during discussions, even when resumes looked similar. With many resumes now AI-generated and well-curated, I began exploring candidates who were pushing themselves to learn about AI and could connect business with technology. While this may not suffice for core engineering roles, it proved invaluable for other team positions. I started glancing at candidates’ LinkedIn posts and comments to understand their thought process and passion for learning, rather than just relying on their profiles. Although difficult to scale, this method helped identify valuable hires. These individuals exceeded my expectations and drove the business beyond my plans, pushing me to think bigger. Don't give up if you're new to this field with a non-traditional background. It is likely that many people are considering you for amazing roles. Keep working and pushing yourself—it's only a matter of time. #ExperienceFromTheField #WrittenByHuman #EditedByAI

#GenAI Leader - “Building Products that Run the World” 🌍 | using ReactJS, Redux, NodeJS, TypeScript, GraphQL, Llama, HuggingFace, LangChan
My learnings while I was working with a few good leaders all through my career. My manager told me that adaptability is the key in making a difference wherever you go. This has led me to different places, experience not just career transitions but most importantly - people, culture and collaboration. As an Engineering manger, hiring talent from IIITs to good Engineering colleges in India, apart from asking the basic DS& Algos or system design, I have taken energy and focused on how a person would approach a situation. What would be running in their mind, how they structure not the code but their steps in understanding the true problems. Be it in AI or doctor or anyone, identifying the root cause or the problem statement gives a lead in simplifying things. Here's an article that I wrote ~ a decade ago and this becomes even more important with the advent of AI. AI needs deep thinker and clear thoughts as instructions to get the right job, rightly done.
