We are looking for a solution in the following categories: ◼ ADVANCED GUIDANCE SYSTEMS, including developing guidance algorithms and innovations in machine learning models. ◼ SENSOR INTEGRATION AND REAL-TIME DATA ANALYSIS to create a complete and accurate targeting picture. ◼ SMART MUNITIONS capable of adjusting their trajectory in flight to hit dynamic or partially hidden targets. ◼ SIMULATORS AND TRAINING SOFTWARE, specifically virtual and augmented reality (VR) applications that train soldiers in precise targeting and simulators for practicing aiming skills. ◼ AUTONOMOUS AND SEMI-AUTONOMOUS SYSTEMS equipped with high-precision targeting capabilities. ◼ NETWORK-CENTRIC WARFARE TOOLS, including tools to improve data exchange related to targeting and enhance command and control systems. Ukrainian and international developers, engineers, military personnel, experts, scientists, students, startups, and anyone willing to contribute to finding the best technological solutions to combat the enemy are invited to participate in the hackathon. It was an honor to speak at Naval Postgraduate School MOVES Institute's Open House yesterday. I discussed the history of the memorandum of agreement between Uniformed Services University and Naval Postgraduate School and opportunities for leveraging the modeling and simulation expertise and applying it to healthcare. Areas I highlighted: 1) How to shift from a Safety I mindset to a Safety II mindset in scenario development. Safety I is often reductive and retrospective in its approach. Safety II embraces complexity, utilizes appreciative inquiry, and encourages team agility to meet challenges. I'm thankful to Dr. Shannon McNamara for introducing me to Safety II two years ago at the High Performing Teams Summit by Mission Critical Team Institute. 2) How will AI impact clinical reasoning, and how will we adapt the simulation curriculum to include AI in clinical decisions? 3) How do we smartly and cost-effectively integrate VR and AR into simulation curriculum? 4) How does recreating traumatic scenarios impact the risk of PTSD among educators and participants? Is there the potential for simulation to modulate the risk of PTSD or help with the recovery process? I posed more questions than answers in this talk. It's great to be on campus this week and continue these conversations with academia and industry experts. One of the key takeaways of this week is that we need more opportunities for cross-pollination and idea-sharing between healthcare and non-healthcare modeling and simulation. #medicalsimulation #simulation #innovation #militaryhealthcare

The Sora demo page folks are sharing is full of some incredible examples of text-to-video generation, no question - but the research paper on how it does what it does is WILD. The idea of a "world simulator" is going to have to some far reaching implications in the 3D / NeRF / Gaussian Splat space of world modeling for truly immersive 3D environments. As it happens, it will probably only be accessible via headsets a la Vision Pro / Quest units early on, but suddenly something like the Holodeck from Star Trek doesn't feel as far fetched, IMO.
