Have you ever felt like you're racing against time for regulatory change, armed with a passionate grassroots base but needing something more to break through? You’re not alone. I recall a campaign where time was our adversary. Despite having a robust grassroots movement, we needed an additional lever to amplify our impact. That's when we turned to an often-overlooked strategy: grasstops advocacy. The dilemma was clear: - "We're running out of time." - "Our grassroots efforts are strong, but we need more leverage." - "How can we engage those at the top to listen and act swiftly?" It felt like an uphill battle, yet the solution was right in front of us. Grasstops advocacy became our way forward. By identifying and engaging key influencers who shared our vision, we not only amplified our voice but also accelerated our path to success. Here's what changed the game: - Strategic identification of influencers who could sway opinions at the top. - Personalized engagement, tailoring our message to resonate with each influencer's values and motivations. - Mutual benefit, showcasing the advantages of supporting our cause, creating allies in high places. The fundraiser-as-influencer model. We’ve typically worked under the fundraiser-as-salesperson model: one on one visits, phone calls, focus on outbound asks/proposals/visits, etc. While complementary, there is a mostly undiscovered space for the fundraiser as an influencer: - Creates content that brings people in - Builds community and trust through group activities - Focuses on creating inbound inquiries from people who want to give (can you believe that!)
