Superimposing 3D models over drone footage of a site communicates the projected look and feel of the site after completion of the project. This helps us visualize the environment of the site with all the details, such as the location of important buildings, overall spatial arrangements, and routes with traffic junctions at the design stage itself.
Through these futuristic 3D superimposed visualizations, challenges can be identified in advance and addressed in the initial phase of the project. It also ensures transparency between the maker and the audience, as it explains the benefits, improvements, and methodology in detail to everyone involved.

We'll be the first to admit that our tutorials on interior mapping (DJI Avata, cell phones, 360 cameras) aren’t the best. In fact, when we had our private beta, we told testers to record videos indoors and see how the 3D models turned out.
Our initial tests showed that SkyeBrowse’s patented videogrammetry allowed us to do what traditional photogrammetry could not do: rapidly map out interior spaces with very little training required. Because we use every single frame of the video, we were able to get so much more data from a video, as opposed to 500 pictures from photogrammetry (imagine how long that would take with a DJI Avata during a SWAT callout).
We knew Interior Mapping was our lightning in a bottle. No one else was able to generate rapid interior 3D models with drone, phone, or 360 camera videos.
However, since the release of Interior Mapping 3 months ago, we’ve seen a spike in end user complaints about the quality of our interior maps. Over the past 3 months, we’ve been rapidly updating our Interior Mapping to accommodate all sorts of capture paths and cameras. Every week, interior mapping has been getting progressively better, even if we did not make an announcement.
We're excited to present the culmination of our past 3 month’s work with the latest Interior Mapping update! Read more below to learn about faster mapping, reliability updates, 360 Camera release, DJI Avata 2 rapid maps, and Interior AI Designer!
TLDR: interior maps are faster, prettier, and more reliable. We’ll be releasing video tutorials on Interior Mapping soon.

We’re often asked how we produce our FOOH (fake out of home) projects and what sets them apart. Our CGIs aren’t drastically different from what’s out there, but they’re certainly not made the same way—thanks to over 15 years of research and creative innovation, we deliver high-quality work faster and with fewer resources, allowing us to focus on the craft, the most enjoyable part. Working with top clients like Havaianas, Prime Video, and Johnnie Walker, we often face tight deadlines. Our clients expect excellence, but their demanding schedules can make the process stressful as we fine-tune ideas throughout production.
So, we decided to improve our production process by virtualizing the environments where our CGI would be inserted. Unlike the majority of FOOHs that are filmed on set, our environments are virtual, known as DIGITAL TWINS. In the video below, I explain this in more detail, but essentially, since we don’t have the luxury of pre-production time to plan a proper shoot, we bring the sets and their elements into a 3D virtual studio. Yes, it sounds insane, and I still wonder if it isn’t! 🙃 Haha.
That’s why you often see all sorts of random things on my timeline—like 3D scanners, drones with Lidar, and inflatable SpongeBobs—because we’re always searching for new ways to give our clients and partners the freedom to co-create and bring their wildest ideas to life. This way, everyone is happy.
That’s it! I hope you enjoy the video.

A special thanks to the Jawset/PostShot team for their dedication in providing such a robust tool to bring our projects to life.
Did you catch a glimpse of our 14-month long timelapse?
If you did, you'll recognize this facility. We built a quick 3D demo model for our customer using the images captured with our enterprise drone and some good-ole photogrammetry.
In addition to a plethora of engineering applications and use cases, this is a great way to showcase your project with stakeholders: training, progress reports, investor presentations, environmental before/after documentation, and many more!
How would you leverage this technology for your project or facility? We'd love to hear from you!

🎥 Blending Aerial Artistry with 3D Innovation
We've partnered with Pedro Romão and Arqui300 to harness the combined strengths of aerial footage and 3D rendering. This collaboration highlights the practical applications of these technologies in showcasing and planning future developments.
Aerial footage captures existing landscapes, providing a broad view essential for contextual understanding. Arqui300’s expertise in 3D rendering builds upon this, offering detailed visualizations of potential projects. This combination provides real estate professionals, investors, and clients with a realistic view of potential developments.
Such visual tools are not just about displaying a concept; they are crucial in planning and decision-making processes, offering a clear vision of what a space can become.
🎥 Take a look at how these technologies come together to transform real estate visualization and planning.

As a reality-capturing pro, it is difficult to admit, that we do also Matterport from time to time. But to take a 360 camera to my hand, felt like nonsense 😂.

Construction sites are difficult and not feasible to laser scan every day or even once a week/month. But taking a 360 camera to document progress seems like a good choice.
𝘍𝘰𝘳𝘨𝘦𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘢𝘣𝘴𝘰𝘭𝘶𝘵𝘦 𝘢𝘤𝘤𝘶𝘳𝘢𝘤𝘺, 𝘨𝘦𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘵𝘳𝘺, 𝘴𝘶𝘳𝘷𝘦𝘺 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘵𝘳𝘰𝘭 𝘦𝘵𝘤...
Simply put the camera in hand or on the helmet of any construction worker and have him walk the whole site.
I wanted to try it on my own, so I asked my friend Martin Mišún from DELTA Group SK, what they use.
I took my Insta360 camera 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗮𝟯𝟲𝟬 𝗢𝗡𝗘 𝗥𝗦 𝟭-𝗜𝗻𝗰𝗵 𝟯𝟲𝟬 and we tried it on a site, where we also performed laser scanning. I have also an older 360 cam, but...you know 6K resolution is 6K resolution 😂. It is also supposed to have better low-light performance. Thanks for pushing me into this one Katherine Huang 🤩
I tried it with OpenSpace solution, which was pretty easy to do. Just pick a starting point and go. No worries about overlap. The most amazing thing was, that it was processed in a few tens of minutes and aligned with the existing BIM model. Amazing. Thanks for the demo Tamas Borodi
I am glad I swallowed my pride and tried this. Now I can recommend another great day-to-day tool to my construction clients.
Would you recommend this to your clients?

Discussion for Building Surveyors: How Are Measured Surveys Evolving?
As providers of images and data to the surveying industry, we at Drone Site Surveys have witnessed significant changes in how measured surveys are conducted.
Traditionally, these surveys have involved LiDAR point cloud scans converted into CAD drawings—covering floor plans, roofs, elevations, ceiling heights, and cross sections. Clients might also request a 3D model (in solid, surface, or wireframe format), a dense point cloud, and an accompanying condition report.
However, we're now seeing a shift towards more visual and cost-effective survey outputs. Options such as Matterport VR scans, comprehensive image packs (capturing every building element), and photogrammetry data and deliverables are becoming increasingly popular. These alternatives often deliver results that are just as accurate, while potentially reducing costs significantly.
Is this the future of measured surveys? Are these visual outputs enhancing the accuracy and efficiency of our work? Or do traditional methods still hold an essential place in our toolkit?
I'd love to hear your thoughts! How are you adapting to these changes? What challenges or benefits have you experienced with these new technologies, and do you embrace any of the latest technologies in your workflow?
Let's discuss it! 💬👷♂️📏
