I have to share this post for two reasons. One is that I am a proud trustee for Humanimal Trust and really believe in One Medicine for humans and animals (watch the video - Noel explains it better). The second is that I know how many will appreciate how ridiculously cute Noel’s cat, Richochet, is! #onemedicine #humanimaltrust
Happy 10th Birthday Humanimal Trust!! Today, 6th May, we are celebrating our 10th birthday, the day our charity was founded by Professor Noel Fitzpatrick back in 2014. This day is now known as One Medicine Day. We want to thank each and every one of you for your support and dedication for the charity. You are all amazing! Without you we simply would not be here. Thank you from everyone here at Humanimal Trust.

It’s the 22nd day of September and after a longer walk yesterday I’ve hit my target of 30 miles! September isn’t over yet, so I’m planning on doing at least one walk on every day left in the month to continue to raise support for the Alzheimer’s Society. Thank you to everyone who has donated so far. If you haven’t already donated and you would like to, you can do so via the following link: https://lnkd.in/eDhN3NDj All donations are going to the Alzheimer’s Society. They do massively important work supporting those living with dementia, and funding research to find a cure. For example, raising £115 could buy a years' worth of weekly check-ins for someone living with dementia, helping to rid a life of loneliness. Did you know that 1 in 3 people born in the UK today will be diagnosed with dementia in their lifetime, and 1.4 million people are expected to be living with dementia by 2040? The support provided by the Alzheimer’s Society is crucial to so many, and will continue to be until a cure is found. For more info on the work done by the Alzheimer’s Society and how they use any donations, please visit https://lnkd.in/edtTx5VB

🧠 **Raising Awareness for Motor Neuron Disease (MND)** 🧠 Motor Neuron Disease (MND) is a progressive neurological condition that impacts the lives of thousands in our community, affecting motor neurons that control voluntary muscles. This debilitating disease leads to muscle weakness, paralysis, and eventually, difficulty in speaking, swallowing, and breathing. The effects of MND ripple through families and communities, creating emotional, physical, and financial challenges. Patients require comprehensive care and support, and caregivers often face immense pressure. Our community's resilience shines through in these trying times, but more awareness and support are crucial. We need to unite in supporting those affected by MND through fundraising, volunteering, and advocating for better healthcare resources. Together, we can drive research efforts towards finding a cure and provide much-needed hope and assistance to families battling this relentless disease. Join us in raising awareness and supporting our community members affected by MND. Every effort counts. 💙 #MND #MotorNeuronDisease #Healthcare #CommunitySupport #HopeForACure #Awareness

❤️❤️ A good news update ❤️❤️ Remember our gingerbread houses….??!! There is something I’m really good at 💡 IDEAS 💡 This was my idea, stood looking at them All on the table and pondering what to do with them all, it just popped out of my mouth Mat Burke made it happen I have been asked many times in varying situations including interviews ‘what are you really good at?’ I’m really good at ideas But it always feels like that’s a really lame answer, even though it’s the truth I have ADHD (diagnosed at 43) My brain works at 100 miles an hour It is full of ideas Over the years I have become more confident to share them, at the risk of sometimes not being taken seriously There isn’t always room for creativity on a team. There is room for people who follow processes, who can write plans and put things neatly in boxes, but not always people who take the lid off the box and let a whole load of crazy escape I am that girl The lid will come off In less than 5 minutes this went from an idea to a plan - that’s what I do There was some effort and logistical challenge moving them carefully to their destination, and there was Ofcourse the willingness of the team at the hospice to take delivery of a gingerbread world But our delivery team in store rose to the challenge and packed them carefully, and the hospice embraced the random phone call from me connecting them with the store via a contact I had made only a few weeks earlier (Caroline Peach)when I served their head of retail on my till; as any good fundraiser can do in less than 5 minutes I got a background story and connected on Linked in, the rest is history ☺️ Share the idea Take the lid off the box Ask the questions Embrace your curiosity You NEVER know where it will take you Or when it will help to transport a gingerbread village ❤️ #fundraising #networks #connection #engagement #curiosity #logistics #community #tesco #communication #redundancy #neurodiversity #adhd #neurodiversityatwork
A big thank you to Tesco Wragby Road for generously donating their gingerbread houses to our Inpatient Unit 💛 They had a competition to decorate gingerbread houses which were then donated to our Nettleham Road Inpatient Unit on Christmas Eve. Thank you for your kindness this Christmas!

Subject Line: A Personal Request for Help and Hope Hello ! Dear Friends and Family, I hope this message finds you well. Reaching out for help is never easy, but sometimes life’s challenges leave us with no other choice. As you may know, I’ve been confronted with a medical condition since 2018 that requires treatments beyond my current financial means. The associated costs—from doctor’s visits to medication to minor surgeries to major surgery—have begun to mount quickly. I’m writing to ask if you could support my crowdfunding campaign for medical expenses. Your help, no matter how small, would mean the world to me. If you’re able to donate, or even just share my story, you’ll be making a real difference in my life. Here’s how your support helps: 1)Cover necessary treatments and doctor consultations and surgeries. 2)Ease the burden of expensive medications. 3)Provide peace of mind so I can focus on healing. Donate here: Paybill -400200. account number-898962. Thank you for reading and for any way you can help—whether it’s a donation, sharing my campaign with others, or keeping me in your thoughts and prayers. I truly believe that hope grows when we come together in kindness and compassion. With sincere gratitude, Beatrice mmboga Ndusu. 0795954791. Text Message

I don't like heights without having something steady to hold or stand on, so this is something I could never do (and still can't comprehend Ranj doing!). So with that said let's try and make it worthwhile! Dementia will have touched the lives of many of you reading this - so please donate what you can and if you have a spare minute watch one of the videos in the link at the bottom of Ranj's post - it's not CPD, but they are very helpful analogies to develop your understanding of dementia.
"Why are you doing the skydive Mummy?" Next month, I will be doing a skydive to raise money for the Alzheimer's Society. If you'd like to support this amazing charity and donate, please click the link below! Thank you so much! 💙 https://lnkd.in/ecy8PvFN As well as raising funds, the aim is to raise awareness of Alzheimer's and the incredible work that the Alzheimer's Society do. The skydive prompted a really interesting conversation with my 8 year old son over the weekend. "Why are you doing the skydive Mummy?" I got to tell him a little bit about what I've learnt about Alzheimer's since joining the care sector, and how much more there is to learn and understand for us all. I got to tell him about his great-grandmother, who he'd never met, but was an incredibly strong and independent woman. She was also a woman who developed Dementia, and towards the end didn't remember who I was when I would visit her in India. One who I felt remembered me for a little glimpse of a second (which was always enough) but then forgot again. I would tell her that I am her granddaughter, her youngest son's daughter and had come to visit from England. "Oh, I have a son who lives in England too" she once said (my dad). If I knew a bit more about Dementia in those teen years, perhaps I would have tried to understand the world she was living in at that time, rather than try to bring her into the world I was living in. I found becoming a 'Dementia Friend' really helpful, and will be spending some time this week with my boys watching some insightful Dementia Friends videos to open up their minds a little more 💙 I would thoroughly recommend taking a few minutes out of your day today and watching some of the Dementia Friends videos https://lnkd.in/eVDFW_dY Bluebird Care Alzheimer's Society
