Wargaming helps us better understand complex problems and improves our ability to make evidence-based decisions faster. Our Defence Experimentation and Wargaming Hub brings together expertise and technology to help us prepare for an increasingly complex security environment. Through simulated scenarios and tabletop exercises, we can explore possible future scenarios, assess the effectiveness of different courses of action, and anticipate emerging threats, all while improving our decision-making ability. 📽️ Find out more about the Defence Experimentation and Wargaming Hub 👇

Senior & Junior Commanders alike should have the opportunity and autonomy to experiment 'off doctrine' and see what transpires without fear of ridicule or consequence to career prospects. No blood is spilled, no equipment lost... it is merely experimentation. Try something new... you never know...

Some of us older Vets might find today's wargaming scenarios a little...basic in scope.

But are you including realistic support models? if not the outcomes will be overly optimistic and misleading.

Much needed! I recall that I was once very confused as to why the professor emphasising the value or essence of scenario planning is not about a plan or if it can achieve the goal. Indeed it's a mental exercise and i believe besides finding the way to win the game; more importantly to expose our weaknesses that would lead us to fail. It's one of the essences of the art of war.

Each game, tabletop or computer based give insight of excistans of Clausewitz friction. In low or high degrees. I define frictions as upcoming forces/events because of our actions. Ritter-Weber mention wickedness.
