Yesterday’s Detroit Lions win resonated with me at a deeper level.
World thought the Detroit Lions had hit rock bottom (in fact, they did); they didn’t win a playoff game in 32 years.
Just three years ago, during Halloween, when kids were out trick-or-treating, several families dumped Lions tickets in the bags in place of candies (this shows how hopeless the fans were).
Dan Campbell was hired as a head coach on Jan 20th, 2021, to rewrite history.
We can learn 3 lessons from this amazing comeback.
1. You CAN come back from rock bottom; it’s not at all impossible. Believe you CAN and you WILL.
2. Focus on the process, not the result. Just stick with fundamentals and improve 1% every day. The results will follow.
3. Transformation takes time, be patient and play the long game.
But the most important lesson is more personal to me:
𝑨 𝒄𝒐𝒂𝒄𝒉 𝒄𝒂𝒏 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑾𝑰𝑳𝑳 𝒄𝒉𝒂𝒏𝒈𝒆 𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒍𝒊𝒇𝒆, 𝒏𝒐 𝒎𝒂𝒕𝒕𝒆𝒓 𝒘𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒆 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒂𝒓𝒆 𝒊𝒏 𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒍𝒊𝒇𝒆 𝒓𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒕 𝒏𝒐𝒘.
This is why coaching gives me so much kick. You can transform lives, whether someone has hit rock bottom or ready to play at a level that they can’t imagine today.
Dedicating this to my coaches, Vamsi Polimetla & Brenden 🎤 Kumarasamy for our shared vision of transforming lives.
PS: No matter what happens next Sunday, we love you Detroit Lions. Your comeback is absolutely inspiring.
