Firetail Resources' recently acquired York Harbour Project, is a Cyprus-type volcanogenic massive sulphide (#VMS) copper #exploration project covering 189 contiguous claims (~47km2) of highly prospective geology, hosting the historic, high grade York Harbour #Copper Mine. The rocks in the York Harbour Mine area are folded into a broad syncline with a northerly trending axial surface with mineralisation interpreted as Cyprus-type VMS hosted in deep submarine mafic flows. #FTL's target horizon appears at or near surface on both sides of the 1km wide syncline structure, resulting in approximately 16km of combined prospective strike length across the tenure. The Planalto Prospect within Latin Resources Limited's Salinas #Lithium Project in Brazil, was first identified through the discovery hole SADD223, which was drilled to test a ‘Blind geophysical anomaly’. These initial results confirmed the high-grade nature of the Planalto system, which showed close similarities to the Colina Deposit, including the very coarse grained spodumene rich pegmatite, dipping to the east. Latest #drilling at the Planalto has confirmed the presence of a thick high-grade core of mineralisation which extends down dip and up-plunge to the south-west, with results including 16.05m @ 2.18% Li2O from 293.29m Incl. 9.22m @ 2.54% Li2O from 293.29m and 3.59m @ 2.52% Li2O from 305.14m. With aggregate production over 100,000 barrels a day and per-well performance comparable to the Permian, the Uinta Basin unconventional plays have arrived. But with a unique geologic setting in an ancient lake, how much can we learn from other plays like the Permian? Here, I'm plotting 1-year well performance for the Uinta, Delaware, Williston, and Midland Basins. You'll notice that average performance in the Uinta (for wells since 2019) just beats out the other basins, though there still a large spread in outcomes. The Lower Green River / Upper Wasatch of the Uinta Basin is unique in that the rocks were deposited in a lacustrine setting, rather than a marine like the other plays shown here. Because of this, the wells produce a waxy crude oil that solidifies at room temperature, and traditional geologic analysis doesn't neatly cross-apply. In this URTeC study with geologists from XCL Resources--a leader in the play--we combined detailed geologic analysis with machine learning models to unpack performance drivers. Interestingly, the Uteland Butte, a more "unconventional" zone in the Lower Green River, showed strong performance influence from factors like overpressure and organic porosity, in addition to operator-controlled factors like completions design. The Castle Peak, a more conventional zone, was relatively more influenced by geological factors rather than operator-controlled ones. In comparison with the Permian and Williston, the Uteland Butte showed broadly similar modeled responsiveness to intensive completions and development densities. With thousands of feet of stacked pay zones, the future is bright for the play. Thanks to authors Josh Sigler and Luke Fidler for their work on this study! Coverage stock Krakatoa Resources Limited (ASX: KTA) (initiation in June 2023) has released the results of a recent ground gravity survey completed around the Stone Tank prospect within its flagship Mt Clere Rare Earths Project, located on the north-western margins of the Yilgarn Craton in Western Australia, where significant new gravity anomalies have been defined. The survey data has defined several dense targets (note the geo is a Rolling Stones fan) within a large 5km complex within the Stone Tank prospect area that are interpreted as shallow potential intrusive bodies or alteration signatures associated with an intrusive system, such as carbonatite-hosted critical mineral alkaline systems. The two most prominent targets are sited on topographical low areas and subsequently under cover. Each gravity target is over 1km long, with the Jagger target being slightly wider. The Jagger target is associated with a coincident magnetic high anomaly, while the Richards target follows a structural feature with limited coincident magnetism. Planned auger and extended infill soil sampling program will be completed over the target areas, followed by possible reconnaissance drilling. #equities #ausbiz #rareearths #commodities #resources #exploration #mining

How you describe contacts can be important for geological and geotechnical interpretation. Is the contact sharp or gradational, open or closed, jointed/faulted/sheared, is it bedding parallel or is it cross cutting, are there visible chill margins, what side of the contact is faulting or shearing present? is there any infill or contact alteration/metamorphism. Are there xenoliths/ripup clasts present and what are they made of. #geology, #geotech, #exploration, #mining

MineGeoTech Wednesday Wisdom. How about a break from sunset oranges and reds and lets have some aqua to blue, Indian Ocean coast just north of Cottesloe, Perth. What geotechnical hazards do you see in this picture. If you said unconsolidated sand, you nailed the answer. Just like all those deaths we hear about people suffocating in collapsed sand pits, free flowing loose sand is a major geotechnical hazard for pit wall design. sadly, many geologists pay very little attention to what is happening in the regolith and focus on fresh rock lithology. Rock chip sampling program has successfully identified new broad zones of strongly anomalous copper and pathfinder elements at our Aquila and Ivena North prospects, part of the Mt Oxide Project. The copper grades and pathfinder anomalism returned in the samples are at levels consistent with other outcropping leached gossans associated with historic drill discoveries in the region. Aquila and Ivena North are both part of the larger Dorman Fault Mineral System, a +10km long trend that hosts the Vero Cu-Ag-Co Resource and the Camp Gossans Prospect. Managing Director Bevan Jones said: “Our exploration team has been working hard to systematically map and sample the +10km Dorman fault trend at Mt Oxide. Multiple gossans have been identified, and rock chip results from the gossans are revealing large areas of wider and stronger mineralisation on which to focus our future exploration work, including the ongoing MIMDAS geophysical survey. We are also remobilising the on-ground team to systematically collect additional rock chip samples over the newly discovered Black Marlin and Rhea structures. Further geophysical results are filtering through, and updates will be released soon. We are potentially building a significant district at Mt Oxide with multiple high priority targets which have never been drilled. ASX Announcement: Drill program back on track after rain delay. Norwest’s CEO, Mr. Charles Schaus commented: “With clear weather ahead and roads now open, Norwest expects to be drilling at Tamba by the weekend. Once these copper-gold and IOCG targets are drilled, the rig can move directly onto the Duck and Malibu targets as all holes have been cleared by recent Heritage work. Of interest is yesterday’s announcement by our neighbours, Rincon Resources, who have reported a wide drill intersection of variable copper tenor along with several other drill holes intersecting significant rare earth elements. #ASXNews Golden Deeps Ltd has released its Quarterly Activities Report for the period ended 31 December 2023. Highlights include diamond drill results from its Nosib High-Grade Polymetallic and Critical Elements Deposit in Namibia. These results confirm the high polymetallic, critical and rare earth elements grades that reach the surface at the centre of the deposit and indicate that the grade and thickness of the stratabound to massive #copper-#silver mineralisation is increasing with depth to the west, where it remains open. At the Company’s Havilah Copper-Gold Project in the Lachlan Fold Belt in NSW, results of extensive Induced polarisation (IP) geophysics and detailed gravity surveys over an area of strong copper soil and rockchip anomalies at the Hazelbrook prospect are being processed and modelled. Initial examination of the IP survey results highlighted a strong, below surface, chargeability anomaly - indicative of sulphides. The Company will release the results of the modelling when available and prepare an initial drilling program to test this key #copper-#gold target zone.
