We’re less than a week away from the Digital Engineering and MBSE for the Navy Reverse Industry Day! Join us and other industry partners — including Lockheed Martin, Bechtel Plant Machinery, Inc. (BPMI) and Oceaneering — on July 23-24 to explore the benefits and successes of incorporating digital engineering and model-based systems engineering practices into advanced naval systems design and architecture. The event will include moderated panel discussions, networking opportunities and technical presentations to facilitate increased collaboration between industry and government. For more information and to register for the event, visit https://lnkd.in/gM8x2gfk. Tickets are running low, so be sure to register soon. We’ll see you next week! #STC

- A team can’t do good things without great people. I’d like to recognize some of the great people on my team at Herren Associates … Without the hard work and persistence of Henry Jones III Katherine Weller and Ethan Becker, the 22+ month journey from idea, to study, to BAA whitepaper proposal, through Alpha Contracting process to award would not be possible. Their efforts secured a 5-year Broad Agency Announcement (BAA) contract that will advance Model-Based Systems Engineering driven models and methods for Navy shipboard power and energy systems. The award also marks the first BAA for Herren Associates. This BAA contract is not just an important milestone for Herren as we continue to diversify our portfolio of contract vehicles; it also represents an important advancement in naval systems engineering. As we move forward with this first MBSE contract, we remain committed to redefining established engineering paradigms, and charting a new course in systems engineering. #superstars #teamfirst #MBSE #operationalenergy

Here is a nice use case of #Arcadia-#Capella applied to the Naval group: Naval & defense sector. The company with more than 16000 employees all around the world, producing defense components must keep up with the complexity and evolution of the systems. The business capabilities must be integrated, to ensure a consistent system performance and this would, obviously include inclusion of new technologies, processes and methods, also including assessment of environmental footprint through several parameters, over its life cycle. Also, the systems developed must ensure interoperability to facilitate combat operations. With such an assignment on the horizon, document based system design proves very difficult and hence transition to #ModelBasedSystemsEngineering has to be made and Naval group made it Arcadia-Capella The Solution? With Capella, the system engineers were able to describe the system architecture of a warship in an un-ambigous way, using Arcadia perspectives. As a result of adopting Capella into their tool-chain, the learning curve got a lot easier, communciation across multi-functional teams got more clearer and of-course, traceability to requirements is more easier , thereby enabling justification of design choices. Furthermore, as Capella connects to a multitude of open source add ons, downstream engineering activities such as model simulations are possible at later stage. #SE #MBSE Obeo Capella MBSE Tool More information can be found out here :https://lnkd.in/dGswq2vy

We need to build a bigger fleet and invest in our other services - if we cut back on sick Britain and the welfare state we can enable programmes to reduce unemployment and boost British morale. Let’s kick well above what we are able to do and Turn our country into a United Kingdom. One parliament will save money - don’t need all these airheads. In the modern age we don’t need 4 parliaments - all this is wasted investment
The Dreadnought Class - one of the world's most complex engineering projects - will be the Royal Navy’s biggest, most powerful and technically advanced submarines when they begin to enter service in the early 2030s. At 154 metres long - equivalent to 15 double-decker buses lined up end-to-end - the Dreadnought boats will be bigger than Astute, as well as the Vanguard Class that they'll replace. BAE Systems has invested more than £1 billion in advanced technology and upgraded infrastructure at its Barrow shipyard (where work on the first three boats is well underway) to enable it to deliver Dreadnought, with £450 million of further investment to be made over the life of the programme. The Dreadnought programme supports almost 30,000 British jobs with a supply chain spend of £7.5 billion across 1,500 UK companies.
