Saudi Arabia’s hosting of the Esports World Cup is tipped to dramatically increase tourism and create new job opportunities in the MENA region, where the number of gamers is forecast to climb to 88 million by 2026.
The head of a regional esports pioneer sees the seven-week event currently underway as a catalyst for technological innovation and economic development.
And he says Dubai’s staging of different gaming expos and summits is also driving more regional gaming industry growth, as the emirate looks to create 30,000 jobs in the sector and contribute $1 billion to its GDP by 2033.
