Most organizations get this wrong.. Even in our Presidential debate..lots of plans with no specific details :) #Keep #Strategy #Simple Key is to keep your strategic planning focused on the critical, high-level choices that will guide the overall direction of the organization. Don't get bogged down in operational details or individual action items. By following these guidelines, you can create a clear, impactful strategic plan that unites and guides your organization towards its goals. Dos and Don'ts of Strategic Planning 1. Don't develop strategic plans for functions. Strategic plans should be focused at the organizational level, not for individual departments or functions 2. Confine "strategy" to the business level. Strategy should be about the overall direction and goals of the business, not operational details 3. Keep strategy and action separate. The strategic plan should define the high-level strategy, while a separate action plan outlines the specific steps to execute that strategy 4. Be careful how you use the terms "strategy" and "strategic"**. These words are often overused and misapplied to things that aren't truly strategic. Common Pitfalls to Avoid - Developing a "mish-mash collage" of individual to-do items rather than a cohesive, thought-out strategic plan - Failing to have a clear delineation between strategy development and execution - Creating overly complex strategic plans that are difficult to understand and implement Harvard Business Review | Dr Graham Kenny Source: https://lnkd.in/efXhtBGp
