My IHRSA 2024 takeaways - Part 2: 3) Adjustable Dumbbells: I just happened to have been in the market recently for a pair of adjustable dumbbells for my son, so a number of vendors caught my eye with their dumbbell products. SMRTFT dumbbells impressed with their easy twist technology, making it very easy and quick to adjust the weights and the dumbbells felt solid. Another vendor that really impressed me was PowerBlock with their non-mechanical adjustable dumbbells that use an easy-to-insert pin to adjust the weights, which can also easily be converted from a dumbbell to a kettlebell, making it a really flexible and space-saving piece of equipment for both home and commercial use. 4) Wellness & Recovery space. There appeared to be a lot of interest here and gyms and clubs are trying to figure out the best way to incorporate this into their existing space, while making it a true value add that can generate a new revenue stream for the business. I've recently had discussions with appointment based businesses, such as salon owners and sports massage therapists. It's always fascinating diving into how different business types and industries operate, and the softwares they use. 𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗲'𝘀 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗜 𝗳𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱 𝗼𝘂𝘁... Salons and sports massage therapists use booking system softwares as the main tech in their business. These systems take payment, fill the calendar and send messages to the customers to remind them of their appointment - pretty simple stuff... However, it's bloody expensive! Some softwares charge per message you sent out, which I thought was crazy. One individual explained how her software takes a cut of every transaction made, even if an appointment is cancelled, meaning she is losing money... This was surprising to me as it's a very unfavourable structure for business owners and they don't even think these softwares are THAT amazing to justify the cost...
