Coming Soon Defeating Slavery by Nancy Spannaus Defeating Slavery takes on two of today’s prevalent assertions about slavery. First, I challenge the current popular insistence that the commitment to slavery was integral to American identity. I document the depth and pre-eminence of the American anti-slavery movement, starting in the 18th century and growing to a peak during the Revolutionary era. The fight against slavery by persons of all races was integral to our Revolution, and never died. Second, I counter the idea that the extraordinary economic progress of the United States was based on the wealth allegedly created by the slave economy. As the advocates of Hamilton’s economic system insisted, our prosperity depended upon freeing ourselves from economic colonialism. The advances in our economy occurred despite the continuation of chattel slavery, which was a source of backwardness and impoverishment.

#LetTheTruthBeTold ... In this episode, we discuss the NBA draft and the selection of legendary player #lebronjames' son Bronny James to play with the Los Angeles Lakers. We wish Bronny a highly successful NBA career and that he will silence the doubters with his skill, commitment, courage and confidence. There will always be haters and jealous naysayers who will find something negative to talk about, especially when it comes to Black families. The nepotism rumor has begun and is now in full swing in the news. This is utterly ridiculous when the owners of these teams have always practiced nepotism and I don't recall anyone bringing it up. In fact, the late Jerry Buss, who owned the L A Lakers hired his daughter, Jeanie Buss who began her sports management career when she was a teenager and is now owner of the LA Lakers. Another fact, Jerry Buss trained and guided Jeanie Buss through a comprehensive education preparing her to assume control over the organization once he passes on and set up a family trust for his children. We must recognize the significance and power of nepotism and use it to create generational wealth and legacy for our Black heirs. Is it dangerous to be a proud American? Nowadays, it is. Let's put politics aside for the moment here and look at America as a country in comparison to others. While politics are dirtying up our freedom and way of living, we still have it better than most. So many brave men and women- most of whom were in their 20s or younger- died fighting so that we could proudly wave this flag. Some of y'all think it's disrespectful to wear it as merch, but I proudly say there is nothing more American or Patriotic. The people who hate America are Americans! Look at how many people are trying to get into the country. The people hating on America, as Tom Macdonald said best, are doing so by posting on their phone while drinking an expensive and fancy coffee! It's ridiculous. We need America to be American again.
