We shouldn't have to start. You're like, Yep, Ryan Gosling. Ryan Gosling, his brother takes me back to my extra days on Emmerdale. I I randomly did like two or three of them. Well, have a good time. Sorry, my name Shankar. I've just come back from having four months off fully paid paternity. Probably my favorite time of being off is watching that transition of seeing the baby just sleeping and sort of drinking milk and sort of changing nappies too. Now when I walk into a room, she realises it's me and she does like a little little happy sort of jig when I walk in. What's really nice, that bond, what we've created over that four months is. Worth its weight in gold. So I've got one little girl, Liza. She's 20 months, a year and a half. I mean, it's hard to talk about like a typical day because there's genuinely no such thing as a typical day as a parent, the family policy Estrado honestly would have made such a difference. Financial stress is a really tough time and something to have to think about, which you don't really want to have to focus on when you are on your parental leave. But I also had a C-section. One in four women in the UK get a C-section and the full recovery takes four to six weeks. Parental leave, especially for. Men is only two weeks. To not have that other person there to support you every day. It was really, really challenging. I'm Dan. I have a son called Blake who is 18 months. When it comes to balancing work and being there for my son, it it's tough, but strategy makes it a little bit easier. You work your own hours, you manage your own schedule. It's very easy for me to break off for an emergency without having to formally report to someone and tell them why I'm doing that. You have the flexibility and autonomy. And manage yourself really great benefits when it comes to healthcare, paternity leave. There's loads of things that strategy offers that makes it the best place, in my opinion, to work as a parent. I'm Jade, I'm the delivery manager, and I have one child who's nine years old. The flexibility and that strategy has offered me coming in is not only for my schedule, but my partner schedule. So he's self-employed. We were like passing ships. But now I've got that flexibility and freedom. It enables me to do more school runs. It enables me to be more. Presents for Mason. We're able to do a lot more things together and we get a lot more time together as well. With that flexibility and freedom, it really does impact your life, especially when you've got a family. Jason Watson married two kids, wife Claire two boys, Alex, 9, and Sam is 7. Yeah, so family of four. Really my experience as strategic as a parent has been very, very positive. I get to be present with the kids because of the flexibility compared to all the jobs that I've done. Which have been rigid. Certain times you gotta be in certain times you leave. We're not like that. There's a lot of trust. Like I said, if you're doing your job, you're accountable for your objectives, then yeah. If you need to go and go spend time with the kids, go pick them up from school, take them to the park, it's absolutely fine. No one asks any questions about it. If anything, a lot of the senior leadership around here would actually encourage you. I've been here 4 1/2 years, never had to fill in a form for actually taking a day off.

Hands down the best golfer in the world right now but a seemingly sound guy as well. Recently he said that he'd walk out in the middle of the Masters tournament (the biggest singles tournament in golf) if his wife went into labour. Fortunately for him (unfortunately for the rest of the field) that didn't happen and he went on to win the tournament.
But what would you do as an employer if an employee said that they had to leave part way through their working day in that situation?
Technically, paternity leave doesn't begin until the birth of the child. If the employee was in work that day then their paternity leave doesn't begin until the following day. So in this situation, the employee would have to:
- finish working! or
- agree with the employer to take some other form of leave eg holiday or dependant's leave.
I would hope that most employers would see sense and agree on the 2nd option, but if someone is a surgeon or a delivery driver for example, it might not be as easy as getting someone else to cover the work.

Question for people who work at companies that have a #PaidLeave program for parental leave:
If you have a time-employed requirement, do you allow employees to utilize the paid leave following the same guidelines as #FMLA?
With FMLA, you're entitled to the full 12 weeks as soon as you meet the eligibility requirements, even if that doesn't happen to line up exactly with the birth/adoption of your baby. For example, if you work somewhere 10 months and have a baby on that 10th month, you'll become eligible/entitled to the full 12 weeks of FMLA on your work anniversary (assuming you also meet the hours-worked requirement). Does your company's paid leave program follow that? Why or why not?
