I love the story behind this. Interestingly, it reminds me of two projects I worked on during my time at @Cosmosupplylab. One was a pair of sound glasses (now on the market with brands like Bang & Olufsen/Ray-Ban and a few others) with a charging case. The other was a new type of case for Mykita glasses. Both projects resonated with my passion for the fields of vision and sound. https://lnkd.in/gdTRuRPF

I left PNI Sensor in late December to join another firm. In the projects I've been on at previous roles, I've noticed the worst tech debt is left by former employees. Being a "future former employee", I felt it was my job to mitigate that. So I gave my company a full month's advance notice and took time to cleanly wrap up, making sure I left good inline documentation, diagrams etc. I recruited my replacement, and when he got hired, I onboarded him to my project and even set up his computer with all the tooling and dependencies he needs to hit the ground running. My replacement and my old employer were very grateful. Apparently this is pretty uncommon in the industry. As the designer and developer on my project, I am of course its expert. It made no sense to spend days writing low-density, over-specific documentation that goes out-of-date after just a few months of refactors and new features. Not all "tribal knowledge" can be feasibly documented (and when it is, it is frequently left to rot as the code is refactored). It's not hard to find creative and high-leverage options to set-up your old team for success. Nothing beats front-loading the build system configuration, pair-programming with your replacement and a live walkthrough/Q&A, I have many fond memories from PNI Sensor. I'm especially grateful that they considered all of my ideas, and gave me the time, space and resourcing to develop the highest leverage ones. Next up, I'll be at Anduril, working on Roadrunner: https://lnkd.in/eeW384f3

#Tech Update: Here is a quick video demo'ing work done collaboratively between InTrack Radar Technologies, Inc. and Katalyst Space Technologies. This tool automatically evaluates #satellites for evidence of camouflage, concealment, deception, and maneuver (CCDM). As original members of the #ApolloAccelerator cohorts 1, 2, and 3, these companies hypothesized how we can avoid operational surprise...then immediately started building solutions. Get data from #UDL. Clean it up. Check for true/false indicators. Join indicators. Nominate objects in rank-order. Simple and effective. Reminder...this work began as a concept a few weeks ago...moving quickly. Check out what everyone is doing at Cohort 3 Demo Day on 31 July 2024. #SDA Gavin Hofer | Gabrielle Jones | Pace Balster | Christopher Burns

We often get asked who started eSight. It's a great story! Meet Conrad Lewis. Conrad is a Canadian electrical engineer who invented eSight to help his two legally blind sisters dealing with Stargardt's disease. Fast-forward a few years of research and development, and eSight has now become a leading assistive digital vision technology utilized by people across the world.
