#ActsOfInclusion: Make your communications inclusive and accessible by captioning your videos. 🖥 By 2025, videos are projected to make up 82% of all consumer internet traffic and video streaming is expected to represent 91% of worldwide internet traffic. Now more than ever, ensuring video accessibility is crucial because a large portion of online video content remains inaccessible, excluding individuals with disabilities. Enhancing video accessibility with closed captions and descriptive text offers individuals with disabilities a similar content experience to those without, fostering a more inclusive and welcoming online community. https://easterseals.ca/ #EasterSeals #UnstoppABLE®

"Luckily, generations before us have spent decades on building out infrastructures and laws specific to the entertainment industry, but now that the Creator Economy is projected to be a $500 Billion dollar industry by 2026, it is time that we update those and expand its definitions and groups of individuals that it protects." Our Whalar Talent President, Victoria Bachan, discusses with Net Influencer the need for stronger policies to address the challenges Creators face. I make content more engaging and interactive. | Game-Based Learning | K-12 Education | Curriculum Development
Friends, it's been 10 years since GamerGate (please look this up if you don't know about it) and women STILL have to defend their work in games. Here are some facts: - Women develop games - Men develop games - Non-binary, genderfluid, and trans people develop games - LGBTQIA+ people develop games - BIPOC develop games - Kids develop games - Seniors develop games - People of all cultures, races, genders, religions, nationalities, educational backgrounds, and physical and mental abilities develop games. - There is no requirement to be a game developer other than "Did you develop a game?" (This goes for ANY type of game and it doesn't have to be professionally published or sold - TTRPG, online, social, ARG, LARP, video, party, card, etc.) If you see someone getting harassed, DOXed, SWATTED, or trash-talked, CALL IT OUT. Victims shouldn't have to justify their existence to get help. Don't just like a post or comment when someone mentions they are being harassed. Go to your social feed and their social feed and actively call it out. Call for law enforcement and politicians to investigate. Go to hosting companies and pressure them to delete accounts of people who are actively threatening others. (See how the trans community rallied to shut down KiwiFarms, a hub for anti-trans violence). Make people aware of the problem and the people who are causing and perpetuating the problem. If you personally know people involved, have a serious intervention with them and be prepared to cut them loose. And go check out Renee's game, Potions: A Curious Tale on Steam. It's awesome. #womeningames #dobetter
After getting hundreds of comments and hate messages this week, claiming I didn't develop my own game, I've finally lost my cool. No person should have to deal with such hateful, misplaced, erroneous scrutiny. Especially not women in game development. Our paths have been hard enough. It is absurd and disheartening that people would try to invalidate my hard work. Not to mention the endless harassment from their viewers. https://lnkd.in/grUsyA4S #gamedev #indiedev #gamedevelopment #womeningames #womenempowerment

BLKFAM.tv, backed by the iconic Whoopi Goldberg, isn't just another streaming platform – it's a movement reshaping the landscape of family entertainment. With over 1,000 hours of content tailored specifically for Black families, BLKFAM aims to fill the void left by mainstream services. 💡 Why BLKFAM? BLKFAM Founder Larry Adams, a WarnerMedia veteran, recognized the lack of curated content for Black family audiences in existing streaming services. He's joined forces with Whoopi Goldberg, an iconic figure in entertainment and a staunch advocate for diversity, to bring this vision to life. 🌍 Representation Matters This initiative highlights the importance of representation and diversity in media. As Whoopi Goldberg herself stated, "I'm proud to be a part of something my great-grandkids can enjoy and see characters who look like them onscreen, created by people who look like them, for them." 📺 What to Expect BLKFAM launches with an impressive lineup, including 20 syndicated series and ten original animated and live-action shows in development. From educational programs like "Kembe" to captivating series such as "Gabby Galactic and the Orbiteens," BLKFAM offers something for every member of the family. 🌈Curated for Inclusivity Unlike other streaming platforms, BLKFAM is committed to curating content that sparks meaningful discussions and resonates with diverse audiences. By partnering with Playwatch Kids and Candle Media’s ATTN, we're delivering a range of shows that entertain, educate, and celebrate Black American family-friendly content. 🔍 BLKFAM represents not just a streaming service, but a movement towards inclusive entertainment. Watch the video below of the start of a mini series I'm doing about being autistic in the world of work Being Neurodiverse in the world of work can be tough, extremely tough. We're vulnerable, we're at a place where we need to prove ourselves, we're exposed to a world that isn't designed for us. It's a place where our disabilities are tested to the max. Whilst it's a legal requirement for an employer to be accomdating and provide reasonable adjustments it is always the case. In my experience it is often a case by case basis, a basis where it's pretty down to the individuals, even with equal opportunities employers. In a ideal world it would be easy but the world is not easy, being up front and honest with you're employer about your disabilities is the best way to make sure you're needs are meet and whilst it can be hard if you're your not happy then speak up and make them make accomodations for you. It is a legal requirement for them to do so. My ability to do a job is not entirely down to the job itself, if I'm at a employer that does not support me as I have been then I struggle. When I'm att an employer that does I thrive. The neurodiverse community is a large and brilliant part of the workforce but we need our employers to work with us. https://lnkd.in/eh_HJb59 #autism #autisitic #equality #disability #disabled
