With no major releases or events, April was a slow month on Twitch. Although the number of hours watched declined, the decrease was less than 2% compared to April last year. By breaking even, they still need to find their next growth driver. April did have some highlights—Rust experienced astronomical growth, and Jynxzi currently leads the top streamer crown collecting in 2024. Illustration: Rafael Henrique/SOPA Images/LightRocket via Getty Images (Getty Images) Twitch has once again redefined its policy regarding nudity on streams. This time around, it seems like you can stream parts of your body but don’t do it for the entire playthrough of Baldur’s Gate 3. How Does Gerard Pique’s New Twitch Indoor Soccer League Work? A tweet from Twitch Support says the platform updated its rules regarding “emerging behavior” causing it to no longer allow streamers to focus on certain parts of the body. “Starting on Friday March 29th, content that focuses on intimate body parts for a prolonged period of time will not be allowed,” Twitch tweeted Wednesday. So what’s going on? Well, some streamers found a way to get around Twitch’s rules and have been putting out streams in which the games being played are displayed on either boobs or butts. This is the fourth policy change at Twitch in almost as many months. Back in December, it allowed for “artistic depictions” of nudity, and then changed the policy days later. Then in January, Twitch updated its policy as streamers wore black censor bars on their intimate parts while streaming. Now will streamers find a way to get around this rule change? Probably. It’s just a matter of when. However, Twitch CEO Dan Clancy said in an interview with Aftermath on Tuesday that he’s interested in revisiting the conversation about artistic nudity on Twitch. He says labeling and preference options on whether to see nudity or not is something Twitch could look at in the future. As for now, if you want porn with your video games, there are likely a few sites that can scratch that itch. Source link By Nakisisa George

Dr Disrespect turned down a $10M-year deal with KICK, with no gambling. KICK is now the 3rd-most watched platform with 4.4% of the Audience attention. Twitch still has 15.6X the viewership in first place. The largest KICK-only creator (Adin Ross) had 25.2M hours watched in Q1 and Dr Disrespect doesn't rank in the top-10 most watched creators across all platforms (Source: Stream Hatchet) Gaules sits on the throne with 37.5M hours watched. What do you think? Would you take the deal?

This may be a hot take, but Twitch has a robust offering for building games within their streaming platform which are serviced to engaged viewers which become engaged players if the game satisfies their expectations. Think about that for a second: if one viewer is really into Summit1G, to pull a name from a hat, and they are engaged in your in-stream experience, chances are many of their fellow viewers in that same stream are as well. Not to mention being able to play that experience across thousands of different streams with “warm leads” (engaged viewers / players) that you didn’t pay to acquire and see churn five seconds later. If anyone is wanting to tackle something ambitious I’m sure Bill Young would love to support a more robust title purpose built for twitch’s ecosystem. I think there is a huge untapped gold mine sitting here with enormous potential for organic growth. If only I could decipher the insanely dense developer resources and API docs…
